The Ghost ship story is mysterious, the opposite of the Mendoza story. Readers do not know if the narrator is really seeing a huge ocean liner, or if he was having hallucinations or if it was a dream. We do not know why after being a widow for eleven years, the narrators mother is still thinking often about her dead husband and why the blood in her heart bubbled up and turned into chocolate.
