In addition many states give individual districts the authority to create regulations. For the purposes of this discussion we will focus on historic district regulations as it relates to Nashville, Tennessee
Article XIII provides the regulations for both Historic and Landmark districts. Section 13-105.3 describes the Criteria for Designation of Historic and Landmark Districts. According to this criteria, at least one of five factors must be present for a structure, building, site or neighborhood to be considered for nomination as an historic district or landmark.
