The case study deals two airlines and the way the organization and leadership of each of the company capitalized and utilized the innovations and technologies of the information age. The first organization is a U.S.-based airline that seems to have embraced information and communications technology but did not incorporated critical aspects of the implementation thereto such as change management, business process reengineering, shift in operations and personnel strategy, customer relations management as well as other critical aspects of the business. On the other hand, the British-based airline has not only adapted information and communications technology in its business processes but enabled the day-to-day operations to effectively and efficiently exploit these modern innovations.
To wit, both airlines faced the same problems most other airlines encounter operationally. First there was the problem the heavy fog that could always cause airport closures because of zero to poor visibility. When one problem began, there was a Domino Effect and flights delays are surest things to happen, in this case several did.
