...... The problem with discrimination is that it is not always recognized and challenged. Equal opportunity expects victims of discrimination to come forward so to identify and challenge their unfair treatment. This doesnt always happen though. People do not always recognize their own disadvantages and they dont always file formal complaints. This is because they often have the lack of knowledge or resources. They find discomfort in causing adversity and they fear outcast or retaliation from there coworkers or authorities (Iyer, 2007). Putting proactive programs in place would also help to eliminate these things from taking place and hopefully put an end to discrimination as we know it
Observers of discrimination may not always recognize what is going on either. If they are not directly affected by the discrimination they may not be in the best position to identify the discrimination and challenge it. It can also be difficult for observers to notice patterns of discrimination between groups. Studies have shown that only when these differences where pointed out did they observers notice what was going on and then attempt to make amends (Iyer, 2007)......
