Thus, Mexico, like other Latin American countries, has seen its share of challenges when it comes to the politics of drugs and their influence on the social, economic, and political constructs. From disturbing Mexican residents already harsh social problems with violence and funds directed away from social reform and toward the abolition of drug problems to committing human rights abuses, furthering the areas economic problems, and establishing a government that is close to that of a failed state, the politics of drugs have had negative affects that are as far-reaching as their causes. With the intervention of U.S. President Barack Obama and the freezing of Mexican drug lords U.S. accounts, in addition to the United States commitment to aid in the prosecuting of drug traffickers in the United States, this problem can be solved. However, it is enough, today, to argue that this problem is one of the utmost importance, an issue that must be addressed by the international community.
