¶ … heard from too many users who, otherwise satisfied with MEPIS, complain that it still lacks the ability to mount USB Flash drives without hacking into the fstab file, and that they have never experienced this issue with any other distribution. They have also had difficulty installing the system. I, on the other hand, was extremely pleased with MEPIS and have recommended it to others. Wanting freedom from viruses and from all those commands that Windows Server (as is typical of all Windows and Microsoft programs) has, I found MEPIS to be simpler, far more user friendly, responsive, easier to manage, and pre-installed with remarkable software (although Windows Server has this caliber of software -- and more -- too). As a single downloadable live CD that doubles over as installment and rescue disk, I found the installation of MEPIS to be somewhat slower than that of Windows Server, but once installed I had a portable operational system that I could use wherever I wanted...

Furthermore, since Windows Server 2008 essentially comes from the same code base as Windows Vista and I have had good experience with Windows Vista, I found that it shared much of the same functionality in an improved version. Here was, for instance, improved image installation, deployment and recovery. I was also pleased to discover new security features such as Bitlocker and ASLR. I found Windows Firewall I found to be more secure; and I was more pleased than I had been with previous Window systems with the memory and file system.
The new Failover clustering tool that Windows Server uses is terrific. In previous Windows versions, corruption in the file system was marked "dirty" and it had to be taken offline. Here it is self-healing with corrupted files / folders remaining unavailable whilst a localized…

Another benefit that Server has over MEPIS is that MEPIS cannot be installed over multiple drives. This can be a major problem, since if hard drive or soft drive is malfunctioning and you must reinstall you will loose everything. With MEPIS, all must be on the same hard drive.

In short, for first time users, and most particularly for individual users, MEPIS is excellent in that it is calibrated and simple to use. In addition, its portability and its rescue abilities, should you ever get into trouble, are extremely useful but I found its file system management and process management somewhat lacking and less mature than Windows Server 2008. On the other hand, its manageability seems to me superior. This makes sense considering the intended use of both programs. Whereas MEPIS is fine for an individual average computer user, Window Server would be a waste of money for the home user due to its expensive features. It is mainly intended for large businesses, or schools, and government applications. In this way, its file system management and process management is superior to MEPIS, since it is intended -- and succeeds in its objective -- for people to share printers or files on a large scale, or for people to log in with one account at multiple computers. Its usability and manageability might be no problem for someone proficient in the system, but for a first time user to MEPIS usability and manageability are far preferred. This makes sense since it is designed for everyday desktop and laptop computing.

In conclusion, for functions such as usability and manageability when it comes to beginners to advanced users who want to use their computer without hassles, and want to learn it easily, I would recommend MEPIS anytime. Windows Server 2008,on the other hand, is superior in terms of process management and file system management (definitely the latter), and is best for large institutions.

" Turkle claims that "our fragile planet needs our action in the real," which is exactly what the little girl was trying to point out. Her appreciating the animatronic animals more than the real ones is a product of technology saturation. Technology has become an annoyance: we all experience the "sense of encroachment of the device" on our personal time and it is difficult to cut ourselves off from the world.

The SMCO site would serve as a portal bookmark and I might return to it if I needed to research a topic and needed to know at once a list of all the major business trade magazines, or if I needed to find multiple ways of checking company data on sources like ZDNet and Bloomberg Financial Market reports. I can see how the SMCO would be a helpful place to

Aristoxenos, two centuries after Pythagoras released his model, sought to discredit the standing theories held by Pythagorean devotees. In his works, he established that numbers are not relevant to music, and that music is based on perception of what one hears, not any mathematical equation. Descartes as well as Vincenzo Galilei (Galileo's father) both also discredited the music-to-math theories that formed the revolutionary basis for Pythagoras' music work, but not

66). Furthermore, social software will only increase in importance in helping organizations maintain and manage their domains of knowledge and information. When networks are enabled and flourish, their value to all users and to the organization increases as well. That increase in value is typically nonlinear, where some additions yield more than proportionate values to the organization (McCluskey and Korobow, 2009). Some of the key characteristics of social software applications
