Response Strategy
Negative Risk- Candor and Negative Moral
Candor and negative moral are aspects that the project manager can easily eliminate. In order to effectively do so however, the manager must be willing to use effective communication skills with all stakeholders groups. The strategy therefore will encourage large amounts of communication as it relates to the overall users of the intranet. As is often the case with new technology or change within an organization, employees are fearful and resistant. This ultimately lowers moral as negative sentiments set in. To avoid this occurrence the manager must communicate why the change is occurring and the benefits derived...
This will allow all stakeholder groups to see the vision of the manager and how the intranet fits with the overall vision of the project. Candor can also be addressed in the same manner. Candor is particularly important in the context of the intranet project. Candor allows individuals to speak in a comprehensive manner, what is truly on their minds. This candor will allow management to see how the overall users feel about the intranet and how it will ultimately affect their work. Management can use this information to effective alter the product in a manner that best suits its users. In addition candor can help facilitate the useful exchange of information that may increase the efficiencies derived from the intranet. Candor allows for the expression of ideas and thoughts in a manner that benefits the entire organization. As such the project manager must lead by example. The strategy will use meetings, and discussion forums weekly to discuss obligation or objections. The forum will also allow participants to discuss manners in which to improve the overall system weekly (Johns, 2000).
Positive Risk- Increase productivity and collaboration
The project is unique in that it has the potential to vastly increase the overall collaboration and productivity of the entire team. For one, the use of the intranet requires collaboration to function properly. Intranet also required the overall adoption of the entire company. Through proper implementation, ideas, thoughts and processes can be exchanged that increase the overall productivity of the organization. This, in turn, increases collaboration as employees are required to work in unison to achieve team goals.
