Explaining Dental Biofilm to a Client
While showing Pamela the pink/purple disclosing stain on her teeth, she comments "oh-that is from my lunch earlier today. I did not have time to brush before the appointment." Respond to her comment by explaining what the disclosing solution showed.
Lark, while I understand your concerns about the results of your recent dental biofilm examination, I would like to take some time to explain the diagnosis in more detail to help alleviate those concerns. First, it is important to remember that dental biofilm is not a disease, nor does it result from poor dental habits on your part, as these naturally occurring collections of bacterial communities are simply microorganisms functioning as nature intended. You have probably heard of plaque, while that oral health issue is widely known, and the data obtained from empirical studies during the last…

Competitors in Costa Rica
For any company that considers operating internationally, there are many alternatives to select from for the mode of entry in the foreign markets. While foreign direct investment (FDI) is considered most pervasive form of entry mode by transnational corporations, smaller firms often consider partnering with a local firm or exporting their merchandize to the foreign destination country. By exporting and partnering with local firms, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) better understand the political, economic, and regulatory environment of destination country. As a beginning point, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) provides effective guidance for the U.S. firms investing abroad. The website of DOC publishes 'country commercial guide' for each country, thereby making it easier for local investors to select potentially lucrative industry sectors…
Technology Simplifies Modern Life
The relevance of technology cannot be overstated. Indeed, unlike two or three decades ago, technology has today become intertwined with our lives. It is difficult to imagine of how life would be without technology. In this text, I explore how technology simplifies modern life.
How Technology Simplifies Modern Life
How would life be without technology? Although many are the times we take technology for granted, it is highly unlikely that life would continue being the same without technology (as we know it). For instance, refrigeration would cease being as convenient forcing us to go back to traditional refrigeration methods. Further, most of the gains made so far particularly in the medical field, i.e. In regard to laser eye surgery, would be rolled back.
To begin with, technology has made both local and international travel extremely easy. Today, thanks to technology, it would take me a few…

As a care giver, a comforter, an empathizer, a consoler, an adviser and a professional medic, she was held dear by the hospital staff and the patients she interacted with once, or several times on dental check ups.
She kept a rigorous work schedule that demanded her extra input due to care for human life. She…
Marketing Management
This report will be a thorough analysis of a chosen marketing management problems. In this report, the approach taken will include thorough analysis of a total of five recent studies. The thematic marketing management problem studied here will be the impact that the ethical standards can have on the entire marketing management structure. The studies chosen will be studies from five different perspectives i.e. The background of the studies will be provided followed by the research issues that the papers identified, the theories used in the papers, the primary findings of the papers and the implications that they for the current marketers. The report will end with a comprehensive and analytical conclusion.
Background of the Papers
There is a growing trend of hiring African-American graduates in the marketing sectors within the United States. In a recent study conducted by Malinowski and Berger (2010) we see that there is…
Auto Repair
Car repair is the process of diagnosing the car problem to identify the fault within the car. While the cars manufactured before 2000 requires special tools to be repaired, however, the computer technology has been increasingly used to diagnose and repair many newly manufactured cars. Before mechanics start the repairing of cars, they often quote the prices for customers before starting the repairing work. To repair the car, mechanic uses both electronic methods to gather data in order to replace the faulty materials in the vehicle. A mechanic diagnoses the car and identifies the problem within the car before starting the repairing work. There are two approaches used to diagnose a faulty car:
Use of a repair manual
Relying on one's analysis
Use of computer technology
A repair manual is a book that assists an auto mechanic to identify the problems within a car. The repair manual consists…

Health care access
The issue of health care is becoming more and more severe in today's changing society. The need for health care provision increase, but the finances allocated to the effort contract. A new solution could be offered by the more intense integration of technology within the provision of health care services (Smith, 2004).
The issue is long debated and has yet to come to a resolution, especially due to the complexities revealed. One important complexity is represented by the different needs regarding health care and health care technology, as well as the different impacts these would generate upon the communities. In other words, before developing a universally implemental solution, it is necessary to assess the various particularities of different communities, understand them and…
" (Crawford, 2011)
These comments are showing how Wellstone understood the risk that this would pose to the financial system. In eight years after making this speech, the federal government would be directly bailing out firms that were too big to fail. This is indicating how the repeal of the Glass Steagall Act allowed financial institutions to engage in excessive amounts of risk taking. It is at this point that they took on large amounts of debt and had no accountability. (Crawford, 2011)
The information from this source is useful in showing how the repeal of certain laws helped to create situations which allowed for an atmosphere of deregulation. This set the stage for excessive amounts of risk taking with the liquid assets of the firm. When this happened, many institutions began to engage in activities that were believed to be safe. However, they were considered to be speculative and…
Dental Amalgam
The use of amalgam for dental fillings is nothing new. However, the use is also relatively controversial in some circles. While there are many companies and organizations that discuss the safety of amalgam fillings, there are many more that say these kinds of fillings are dangerous and should not be used. Which option is correct and whether it varies from person to person has to be considered. That is the main reason behind this paper - there is controversy, and until there has been information provided and examined it is hard to come to a conclusion about the use of amalgam in dental fillings. People outside of the dental profession may not be familiar with amalgam, and they may refer to their fillings as "silver" fillings because of their color. Despite the coloration, however, these fillings are not silver and contain many other types of chemicals, including mercury.…
Dental Amalgam: The Risks and Alternatives
Some of the most common dental restorative materials currently in use are dental amalgams, but these compounds contain approximately 50% mercury making their use controversial, particularly with young children who may be harmed by long-term exposure. Although there are some viable composite resin alternatives available, dental amalgams with mercury remain the treatment of choice for many practitioners. To determine the current risks and potential alternatives to dental amalgams, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer-reviewed and scholarly literature concerning these issues, followed by a summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion.
Review and Discussion
Dental amalgams are a commonly used dental restorative material, but amalgams contain a number of compounds including mercury (Hg) (Geier, Carmody, Kern & King, 2011). A report from Bradbard (1999) notes that despite the mercury content, dental amalgam has a long track record of use.…
My inspiration for defining a productive life has always been greatly influenced by Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi and I came to the realization that I could contribute more to the betterment of my society and to the welfare of a larger number of people by directing my energies toward a career in administrative health care than I could ever possibly achieve by practicing clinical medicine. As clinicians, even the most successful of us can only affect a relatively small number of individuals in our careers. However, as health care administrators and public advocates and educators, we can actually help transform our societies from communities where only a relatively small number of people have access to modern health care services into communities in which adequate health care services and access to basic preventative medicine become widespread and more evenly distributed throughout the human community.
Therefore, I hope to pursue a…
The world of dentistry today is particularly exciting because of the new technological improvements the profession has witnessed in recent years. As a child, I remember seeing an elderly friend of my grandmother put her dentures in a glass for cleaning. Now such uncomfortable equipment is almost unheard of, in a world of dental implants. The sophistication of x-rays to detect dental problems in their earliest stages has increased exponentially.
In my view, and what I would like to contribute to the profession personally in my future work as a dentist, is the ability of dentists to encourage patients to engage in preventative care. Dentists have a uniquely privileged position as health care providers in that they frequently treat patients of all ages. They can advise the tiniest children to take better care of their teeth by brushing and flossing every day. They can help adolescents avoid junk food and…
In March of 2005, she was finally removed from life support and died thirteen days later. The case had 14 appeals, numerous motions, petitions and hearings in Florida courts, five suits in the Federal District Court; Florida legislation struck down by the Supreme Court of Florida; a subpoena by a congressional committee in an attempt to qualify Terri for witness protection; federal legislation and four denials of certiorari from the Supreme Court of Florida (Jacoby 2005). The courts continued to hold that Terri was in a permanent vegetative state (PVS), and an autopsy showed that most of Terri's brain had atrophied.

Advances in Digital Medical Imaging
Origin
In the past few decades advances in healthcare have emerged, as new forms of technological integration are implemented as part of the overall healthcare management system. Healthcare providers, doctors and patients require more technological integration into the system providing real time data analysis and the possibility of enhancing medical knowledge. Sharing that knowledge can lead to what many describe as "digital medicine" where stored clinical data can generate medical knowledge which can be widely distributed, incorporated into decision support systems, and lead to more effective medical practices (Bouler & Morgenstern, 2005). Digital medical image processing within the healthcare area has its origins in the 1970's when computed tomography was introduced as the first digital modality. In the decades that followed, advances in digital medical imaging technology have dramatically affected the planning and design of diagnostic interventional radiology facilities. Soon after the advent of computerized…
For example, before its paten ran out, "the price of Schering-Plough's top-selling allergy pill, Claritin, was raised thirteen times over fives years, for a cumulative increase of more than 50%, over four times the rate of general inflation." In 2002, the average price of the fifty drugs most used by senior citizens was approximately $1,500 for a year's supply, and although this refers to what the companies call the average wholesale prices, but is also roughly close to what an individual without insurance pays at the pharmacy.
The increase in research dollars and in GNP share contributed to the business cycle expansion as pharmaceutical firms increased their research and development and brought new drugs to market," says Michael Hood. For over two decades, the pharmaceutical industry has been by far the most profitable in the United States, but not particularly innovative, considering that only a few truly important drugs have…
It uses a great deal of expensive and cutting-edge technology, and none of this is cheap. While DR can do a great deal for a hospital radiology department, that department also must have the funds available to support what needs to be purchased and accomplished where DR is concerned if the department chooses to use this technology.
Image Quality
Image quality, other than cost, is quite probably the largest issue that is faced by those that wish to use this new technology. Therefore, it is important to discuss and compare the differences between the image quality of CR and the image quality of DR, so that more can be understood regarding the differences between them. One study looked at the plate readers that are used for CR images, and found that there were enough statistically significant differences between different plate readers as to indicate that there may be problems with…
Liberal Racism
Racial division in American society has always been a critical social, political and economic issue. Andrew Hacker in his work 'Tow Nations' argues that racism still plagues our society and its various sectors and also accounts for poor performance or low representation of blacks in various job and educational sectors. Glenn Loury attacks Hacker for his oversimplified vision in his own review of Two Nations entitled 'Liberal Racism'. I agree that Hacker's is probably the most cliched argument we have ever heard and what is even more hackneyed about the whole writing is the way Hacker tries to impose his views without presented any evidence to support his thesis. Granted, blacks are not as dominant in medicine or that black children's performance on SATs and other standardized tests is at par with their white counterparts but how can we prove that it is due to poor exposure which…
However, because healthy cells can repair damage more effectively, the cancerous cells in an area sustain more damage from the treatment. In order to help the healthy cells recover from the radiotherapy, after five days of treatment a patient will often have two days without the treatment.
Radiotherapy may be used as a curative treatment, by which the aim is to completely cure the cancer and destroy the tumor. When used as a curative treatment, the treatment may go on for an extended period of time, depending on the size and location of the tumor. As a palliative treatment, the aim is to relieve symptoms of the cancer. This is not usually done for an extended period of time, but rather done in one day or several days. As a neoadjuvant treatment, the aim of radiotherapy is to shrink a tumor, or help prevent it from spreading, in conjunction with…
Pasteur proved the opposite: that the world is populated with microorganisms and that they do not spontaneously generate. Microorganisms essentially invade larger bodies or substances and cause disease or the spoilage of food. Pasteur's work is called the "germ theory of disease" and has been the rubric of scientific understanding of disease ever since. His work with the silkworms and with the wine industry extended to his working with diseases that affected farm animals and human beings.
Pasteur's initial work with farm animals addressed the problem of anthrax. Anthrax was a disease primarily affecting France's cattle and sheep populations, crippling the agriculture industry. Pasteur found that by injecting animals with small amounts of anthrax, they could be rendered immune from the disease's deadly effects. He extended his research with anthrax into other diseases like rabies, tuberculosis, smallpox, and cholera, performing most of his experiments on farm animals. His work with…

According to Martin Giniger, a dental professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, there is a growing array of whitening products has arrived on store shelves, costing between $15 and $30 each, compared to professional treatment from a dentist at a cost of $300 or more (Uhlman Pp). Giniger says that peroxide gels are safe when used as directed any that problems arise usually involve gum irritation or tooth sensitivity (Uhlman Pp).
Dentist administered teeth bleaching has earned the American Dental Association seal of approval, but over-the-counter whitening systems have not been approved yet due to insufficient clinical studies (Fishman Pp). Custom-fitted trays prepared by the dentist for home use cost about half as much as those performed in the dentist's chair, however, requires several checkups (Fishman Pp). Over-the-counter whitening kits generally contain as little as 5% peroxide and most, according to the ADA, are minimally…
Cloning is no longer the stuff of science fiction, but is a reality that has become a serious subject of hot debate around the globe. At issue are the ethical, scientific, moral and economic implications of cloning.
In October 2004, David Stevens, Executive Director of the Christian Medical Association confronted scientific duplicity and specifically challenged the International Society for Stem Cell Research asking to stop misleading the public and the media by changing human cloning nomenclature (Christian Pp). Stevens was referring to a September 2004 statement by ISSCR president Leonard Zon encouraging researchers and the media to stop using the term, "cloning" because of its negative connotations (Christian Pp). Zon said, that "nuclear transfer" be used instead of "therapeutic cloning" because the term "cloning" does not accurately describe this biological process, whereby "cells generated by nuclear transfer are by no definition a clone of the donor of the transferred nucleus"…
American History?
The technique of oral history, sampling the life of one person or several people to gain a portrait of the era is deployed in a uniquely effective fashion in Having Our Say. Simply by virtue of their longevity, the Delaney sisters had lives that intersected with the most seismic national and international events that shook the 20th century, including the American civil rights movement, the Great Depression, as well as two world wars. As African-Americans and as women, they could not help 'having a say' about the social history of the 20th century.
But these women are more than real-life 'Forest Gumps.' They are not mere witnesses to history. They are unusual and extraordinary in the sense that they are, respectively 101 and 103 years old are unmarried, and they still live together. These facts alone would make them distinctive. But the sisters are also both former working…
One day while doing some research for one of his college courses in the library, he noticed a section of books about human evolution and it occurred to him to see whether they had any information about why white teeth were so important in the first place.
According to evolutionary biologists, human beings, just like other animals, evolved natural preferences in sexual selection that cause us to be attracted to one another on the basis of physical features that are indicators of good physical health and genetic material (Margulis & Sagan, 2000; Zuk, 2002). More specifically, features such as well-formed white teeth provide visual cues of good health and immunity systems because the production of healthy enamel requires good health and sufficient caloric resources. Therefore, in addition to providing evidence of good health, white teeth also suggest greater access to food resources.
During early human evolutionary periods, access to food…

Though the study used computer and camera equipment to measure "elevated gravitational-force events," or g-force events, researchers said what may be most important is that monitoring and feedback happen at all -- whether they come from a device or a person.
"In a way this reminds us how important it is that parents monitor their young person's early driving, and have some sense of how they're doing," Shope said.
Researchers led by Bruce Simons-Morton from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development in Bethesda, Maryland, outfitted the cars of 42 new teen drivers in Virginia with equipment to record high g-force events, such as quick starts and sharp, screeching turns.
They monitored the drivers for 18 months, also keeping track of any crashes or near crashes the teens had.
For every 100 miles of driving, the equipment recorded from close to zero to about…
Science and Morality
Science and the Concepts of "Right" and "Wrong"
Many people argue that moral concepts allowing us to distinguish between right and wrong come from religion, humanities, philosophy, law, and ethics -- but not science. Science, they argue, does not deal with morality because it does not make any value judgment. According to them, science can only tell what is possible but not what is right or wrong. And even some scientists hold on to this position. For example, in an essay critiquing the concept of "scientific morality," Sean Carroll, a theoretic physicist, argues that you cannot derive "ought" from "is" because "science deals with empirical reality -- with what happens in the world, i.e. what 'is,'" and that is it (Carroll). But I argue here that science indeed can help us make wise and moral judgments because it forces us to accept facts and reality rather than…
Ed Assessment
Oral Hygiene Educational Assessment Tools
Assessing educational outcomes and thus the efficacy of certain specific educational efforts and methodologies is an important part of any educational program regardless of the specific educational area or setting. Choosing the appropriate methods for such assessment, however, is highly dependent on specific aspects and parameters of the education being assessed, and thus should incorporate evidence of successful assessment practices previously identified in specific fields and settings while at the same time determining new methods for assessment in line with identified trends and principles. This paper will briefly identify certain assessment methods and tools appropriate in the field of oral hygiene education, also including specific known problems and barriers to education in this area.
Direct longitudinal research-based assessment is one method of educational assessment that has been employed in this knowledge area with a great deal of useful knowledge regarding the successes and…
O'Brien Interview
Miriam O'Brien began her teaching career in 1959. After several years hiatus in the mid-1960s, during which time she gave birth to two children, Mrs. O'Brien returned to the classroom in 1967. She remained there until her retirement in 2002. In a 2011 interview, Mrs. O'Brien spoke about her teaching career and about women's roles in County Wexford, Ireland, during her life and working years. One can reflect on the struggles for equality that American women faced and the changes that were effected thanks to the women's movement of the 1960s and 1970s. In Ireland, women faced even greater roadblocks in a traditional, patriarchal society. Mrs. O'Brien spoke of the inequity of men's and women's roles in the teacher profession. It is a fascinating look at practices that many people find shocking at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
Mrs. O'Brien first discussed the competitive nature of gaining…
It means they have an equal opportunity to receive contraception, prenatal counseling and services, post-natal services for mother and child, preventative healthcare services, vaccinations, and dentistry services, from earliest childhood and through their lives into their elderly years when they require more medical services to remain healthy and active. To the extent everyone in a given community or society has the same relative access to healthcare services and to the extent those services received are of comparable quality, healthcare access could be described as being equitable. On the other hand, to the extent everyone in a given community or society does not have the same relative access to healthcare services and to the extent those services received are not of comparable quality, healthcare access could be describes as being inequitable (Kennedy, 2006; Reid, 2009).

Christie announced on 22 February 2011 an additional $250 million bill in funding for education programs. The announcement was part of Christie's budget rollout of the same day, when he detailed how the state's spending will be dolled out and taxes collected in 2012. As of February 2011, Christie also announced to also make a $500 million contribution to New Jersey's ailing pension system after skipping a $3 billion payment in 2010. A law the governor signed in 2010 calls for paying at least one-seventh what actuaries say is needed, which would be in the $500 million range. Christie has promised to revamp how New Jersey funds its public schools. In the past several years, the state has spent about $10 billion annually on education, though Christie cut funding to local districts in the current fiscal year after federal stimulus money expired. are pushing Christie to send more money to…
He is also recognized as the Killer Clown, due for his enjoyment of entertaining children in a clown outfit. The time the bones were established to be those of human beings, forensic anthropologists Charles Warren and Clyde Snow came in on the investigation and viewed the bones. The anthropologists started organizing and sorting out the bones, inspecting them carefully for any specific structures that may help validate the victims. However, some of their anthropology work was not successful because nine of the victim's bones could not be identified because they were not able to build the faces.
In the case study of a serial killer Robert Pickerton, it was even harder to remember the victims. From 2002 till 2007 the largest serial killer crime province in Canada was excavated by Forensic anthropologists (Lesson 1- Forensic Anthropology, 2009). His possessions were exposed to substantial hole by forensic anthropologists and bulky gear,…
Healthcare Case Study Schuylkill County, PA
County Overview - Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania is located in the heart of the anthracite Coal region of Pennsylvania where the Schuylkill River originates. Pottsville is the county seat, and the county showed a population of just under 150,000 as of 2010 with a density of 190 persons per square mile. The total area of the county is 782 square miles, almost all land, less than 1/2 a per cent water. The county's history, likely due to large coal deposits, focused on the railroad and industrialization (Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, 2011).
The county experienced the high point of its population during the 1920s and 1930s, and has been losing people ever since, most between 1950 and 1970, with about a 1-2% population loss since the turn of the century. This is likely due to the lack of appropriate jobs and opportunities within the county. Schuylkill…
Theory of the self-monitored students and CSCL
Another popular theory associated with the concept of CSCL is the self-monitored student s (Benbunan-Fich, 2002
). Benbunan-Fich (2002
) in their study give students the chance to explore and discover their abilities and then guide through ways that they can polish them. In the case of CSCL, the students realize that they will need guidelines and principles in order to attain a set objective and is not hesitant in instigating the process of learning whether collaboratively or individually. This is usually possible only for the students who are extremely gifted. This theory of self-monitoring or self-regulating has had either a direct or an indirect impact on all related educational theories like the students behavioural theory and constructivism theory (Benbunan-Fich, 2002
Theory of problem-based learning and CSCL
Problem-based learning (PBL) is another popular theory that has had an effect on the CSCL setup…

Kathy, a plus-sized lady who is sensitive about her size, was shopping for a dress to wear to her son's wedding. She went into an independently-owned dress shop that had come highly recommended. A young saleswoman "breezed by" and told Kathy to let her know if she needed help with anything, then promptly disappeared. Kathy felt overwhelmed by the choices among dresses and left the shop within a few minutes. She drove to David's Bridal, a move she had been resisting because she likes to shop independent stores rather than chains if she can. As soon as she walked in the door, Kathy was greeted by…
Overcrowding also has deeper social, political and economic costs because through litigation it often forces states to build new facilities, whether the budget is available or not (Hanrahan, 2006).
Many scholars, in fact, conclude that the "lock em up" strategy is counter-productive to the overall system of criminal justice. Drug dealers figured out how to avoid getting caught "with product;" other criminals work the system so that it is the naive being preyed upon by both sides who end up incarcerated. Certainly, there are no easy answers to violent crime, to drug addiction and proliferation, or too innumerable other criminalization issues that exist within contemporary society. In fact, "Human Rights Watch found that the United States is the only country in the world with such an array of restrictions" that are relatively ineffective (Worrall, 2008, p. 174).
Perhaps modern society might take a hint from modern dentistry -- prevention is…
One drug that is very commonly used for depression is Prozac (by Eli Lilly), which contains an "inhibitor" called fluoxetine; another inhibitor is called "phenelzine" and its commercial antidepressant drug is Nardil (by Parke-Davis drug company), which falls under the category of "Monoamine oxidase inhibitor" (MAOI) (Friedlander, p. 632).
The problem with some of these medications, like MAOI for example, is they may cause "dizziness… hypotension, insomnia, central nervous system stimulation, weight gain and edema" in some patients (Friedlander, p. 632). And those MDD patients that are taking a MAOI drug should avoid beer, cheese, red wine and "aged meats" because in some cases those foods and drinks mixed with an MAOI medication can cause "blood levels to rise, and, on occasion, bring about a fatal hypertensive crisis," Friedlander continues on page 632.
The authors suggest that along with antidepressants, patients with MDD should also undergo "Cognitive-behavioral therapy or interpersonal…
This drug is far more available in the U.S. Others complain about waiting lists for specialists or refusals by their GPs to see much-needed specialists. Specialists in fields of practice such as mental health and dentistry are often scarce, in certain areas of the country. And because of lower tax revenues due to the recession and rising costs due to the aging of the population, the NHS has placed limits on routine orthopedic surgeries, such as hip and knee replacements, and radically restricted the funding of infertility treatments (Donnelly 2010).
However, despite these admitted problems, the United States spends almost 15% of gross domestic product on health care compared with less than 8% in the United Kingdom and a higher proportion of the British population thinks their system works well. "Successful candidates become Diplomates of the American Board of Homeotherapeutics and may affix the designation D.Ht. after their name. They must maintain certain criteria of continuing homeopathic education and submission of Journal articles annually to maintain their Diplomate status" (Frequently Asked Questions, 2007).
Homeopaths care for patients based on genetic and personal health history, body type, and present physical, emotional, and mental indications. Patient visits tend to be long. Treatments are custom to each individual and it is not unusual for different individuals with the same situation to get dissimilar treatments. According to the 2007 National Health Interview Survey, which incorporated an inclusive survey of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use by Americans, an anticipated four million U.S. adults and approximately nine hundred thousand children used homeopathy in the prior year. "People use homeopathy for an assortment of health concerns, from wellness and prevention, to the treatment of diseases and…
Increased competition also made cosmetic surgery more affordable, as well as the increase in income. Non-surgical and less-invasive procedures also allowed treatments to heal more quickly and go back to work sooner than in the past.
The cultural changes of the past decades also removed some of the stigmas associated with cosmetic surgery. Previously, men who underwent the procedure were thought to be vain, extravagant, or gay. These stereotypes were broken when more and more information about cosmetic surgery changed the public perception. The procedures were also made more affordable by innovations in medicine and increase in personal incomes. In addition to this, later generations such as the baby boomers broke a lot of cultural taboos regarding men's appearance. The term "metrosexual" is an example of this. Moon stated that since the Crawfords entered her life, "I have realized that I have value and worth. And now that I know God, I can always pray for his help whenever I have a problem." The Crawfords are among a growing number of Christians worldwide working to live out the love of Jesus by reaching out to sexually exploited people. The Crawfords decided to move to Thailand after a short-term mission trip to Asia. Christa, a graduate of Harvard Law School, was dissatisfied with corporate law and had been providing legal aid at the Union Gospel Mission in Los Angeles. Mark had been leading an expanding multiethnic church and pursuing a master's degree at Fuller Theological Seminary to prepare to minister to prostituting women. (Jewell, 2007, p. 28).
When Kerry Hilton moved from New Zealand to India with his family in 2000, he was amazed when seeing 6,000 women…
Another caution that exists for people suffering from lupus is to exercise caution before and after receiving dental treatment. Lupus patients could develop serious heart infections from the streptococci that might be released into their bloodstream during routine dental procedures, even bi-annual teeth cleanings (Blau and Schultz, 174). The infection can travel to the heart when the patient has certain other manifestations of lupus, and, if the patient has developed a condition called verrucous endocarditis, then it can be deadly if the streptococci infect the heart (Blau and Schultz, 174). Therefore it is strongly recommended that prior to and following dental procedures and cleanings that lupus patients receive antiobiotics that can help them to be prepared to defend their body against the streptococci (Blau and Schultz, 174-175).
The antibiotic -- usually amoxicillin, or another member of the penicillin family, or erythromycin in cases of penicillin allergy -- is taken an…
I have the patience level for and a "connection" with children.
Another difficult situation arose while I was in college that gave me further insights into my interests. My younger sister, 16-years-old, was living in Florida when I was studying in Baltimore. She became addicted to ecstasy and had to go into rehab. Rather than go back home when she left this care, everyone in the family thought it would be best if she was away for a while from this environment that caused the addiction in the first place. She came to live with me for three months while she worked on becoming stronger. Although she had a small relapse when returning home, she recovered and is doing much better today. This was a very close-to-home experience that showed me the value of healthcare intervention with individuals of all backgrounds and medical needs.
In making my future career choice,…
I help people because it is all I want to do.
For me, the Dental Hygienist Program fulfills these two key personality traits. I love to learn and I need to help. As a dental hygienist, I will be able to do both of these things. The program will challenge me and give me great insight into the field of dentistry. Perhaps one day I will be able to move into dental school myself. But for now, just knowing that I will be able to make people feel better and that I will be contributing to their quality of life and improving their oral health is very important to me.
I see myself as the kind of expert, caring dental hygienist that every patient loves to see. I know how important comfort is to the experience, but I know that being helpful and caring is only valuable when the knowledge…
He noted the uneven pattern, which he knew would make a match easier.
Crime library's Kathleen Ramsland writes in the Most Famous Bite Mark,
"In his expert testimony, Souviron described the bite mark on Lisa Levy as the jury examined the photographs. He pointed out how unique the indentation mark
was and showed how it matched the dental impressions of Bundy's teeth. He showed them the structure of alignment, the chips, the size of the teeth, and the sharpness factors of the bicuspids, lateral, and incisor teeth. Then he put up on a board an enlarged photo of the bite-mark and laid over it a transparent sheet with an enlarged picture of Bundy's teeth."
There was no question that Ted had made the bite marks on Lisa Levy's body. The photos would be the biggest piece of evidence the prosecution had linking Ted to the crime (Bell).
Finally, the chief…
The Foundation called specific attention to the prospect of institutional and policy-level strategies to increase the participation of under-represented minorities in the health professions. In response, the Institute Committee on Institutional and Policy-Level Strategies for Increasing the Diversity of the U.S. Healthcare Workforce came out with a report, entitled "In the Nation's Compelling Interest: Ensuring Diversity in the Health Care Workforce." The Committee consisted mostly of academicians, two of whom represented the nursing profession.
In its report, the Committee recognized the importance of increasing racial diversity among health professionals in order to improve access to care, greater patient choice and satisfaction and better educational experiences for practitioners, among other benefits. It also recognized the lack of strategies in reducing institutional and policy-level barriers among health profession educational institutions or HPEIs. In response to the lack, the Committee recommended that health professions education make a clear stand and mission on the…
Lack of accountability, transparency and integrity, ineffectiveness, inefficiency and unresponsiveness to human development remain problematic (UNDP).
Poverty remains endemic in most Gulf States with health care and opportunities for quality education poor or unavailable, degraded habitats including urban pollution and poor soil conditions from inappropriate farming practices. Social safety nets are also entirely inadequate and all form part of the nexus of poverty that is widely prevalent in Gulf countries. While economic growth is not a sufficient condition for eliminating income poverty, it is certainly necessary in the overall scheme of things. Knowledge remains a cornerstone of development and knowledge absorption involves providing the capacity to use knowledge through education. One significant question remains relative to human development issues in Gulf States because the region has significantly outperformed all developmental regions with the exception of Latin America and the Caribbean. Taken as a group, Gulf countries spend a higher percentage…
The two approaches employed and explored also provided richer understanding of personality and prejudice as well as comparative analyses between these two approaches. The study was also able to keenly account for certain nuances such as differences in results when certain variables where entered first in multiple regression technique. I also appreciate the fact that the researchers took time to discuss the varying degrees of freedom between person- and variable-centered approaches and were able to justify how they can still be comparable through adjustment of df.
Lastly, the article was not able to state its limitations and recommendation for future research works. It does not elaborate on what may be the limitations of this project which may guide future research works on this domain in order to build upon the knowledge this present study has produced. Failing to note its limitations (particularly in the research design) also makes it difficult…
Others include delays in data accessibility, albeit shorter delays and the continued need for source data verification (Donovan, 2007).
Other obstacles have occurred in the developing of mobile healthcare applications. These have included mobile device limitations, wireless networking problems, infrastructure constraints, security concerns, and user distrust (Keng and Shen, 2006).
A third problem that has been encountered is that of a lack of education on not only the importance of the information technology but also training on how to use the specific pieces of equipment. The tools that are provided to people are only as good as the training that is provided on how to use them. The tools may be able to do wonderful things, but if those that are using them do not know how to get the best use out of them they will in the end be less efficient.

' Either way, things can never be as they 'once were.' Chuck is filled with a great sense of loss, as he feels as if he has lost Kelly twice in his life, which is almost too much to bear. The worst struggle, emotionally, for Chuck is that he knows that he could actually be a better husband to Kelly now, after the crash, than he could have been before he was stranded. Before he nearly lost his life and spent so many years alone, he took human relationships for granted. He was always focused on the next task the next thing he had to do for his job. Now Chuck realizes that the most important things in life are not things, but people. He also has a new-found appreciation for the natural world that sustained him for four years, alone on the island.
Chuck, uncertain as to what do,…
That is simply because individual in the same family are much more likely than unrelated individuals to share similar foundational experiences by virtue of their exposure to similar parenting and resources in their immediate environment throughout their early lives (Gerrig & Zimbardo, 2007; Rutter, 2006). Just as Rhesus monkeys tend to adopt maternal behaviors and elements of personalities of their mothers irrespective of their genetic inclinations, so do human infants and growing children and adolescents internalize and adopt various aspects of the behaviors and reactions exhibited by their parents and other significant adult behavioral role models in their lives (Gerrig & Zimbardo, 2007).
Twin Studies
The quality of resources available to siblings (such as food, medicine, educational opportunities, etc.) is generally very similar within biological families (Gerrig & Zimbardo, 2007; Rutter, 2006). To the extent these factors contribute to the development of behavior, it is extremely difficult if not impossible…

Conclusion
Based on the information currently available, the Canadian health care system is the more utilitarian and is, therefore, the better approach but those facing the need for advanced and expedient care would certainly argue otherwise. Therein lies the problem and therein lies the challenge for American society. Even the most ardent proponents of employer-based insurance plans would dare not argue that having great numbers of uninsured is the price that American society pays for having high-quality services but that is what has developed. Hopefully, a system can be devised that allows for more broad-based coverage while retaining the availability of quality care.
Recommendations
The United States health care system cannot continue as it has for the past several years. Costs are far too high and are escalating at a rate that is out of control. Relying on employer-based insurance plans must be abandoned and some form of public financing…
In addition, the classic version of problem-based learning "requires students to collaborate, formulate learning issues by determining factors that may contribute to the cause or solution of a problem, identify relevant content, and generate hypotheses. Most problem-based learning models also contain student reflection components as a means of self-evaluation" (Knowlton & Sharp, 2003, pp. 5-6).
Although the positive effects of using a problem-based learning approach have been documented in a number of studies, the findings of other studies have indicated that problem-based learning may not compare favorably with more traditional teaching methods with regards to student's knowledge base, technical skills, or the resources expended; however, Dadd (2009) suggests that the benefits of using a problem-based learning approach justify the additional resources this method requires. Moreover, Simons et al. (2004) report that students using a problem-based learning approach "tend to develop more positive attitudes toward learning than students in more traditional…
While this is an important first step, the overall bureaucracy of the hospital could pose problem over the long-term. To mitigate this situation, the hospital could implement a program of randomly monitoring the various departments that score poorly on different surveys. Where, the administration is seeking out ways to quickly identify when the overall levels of care will decrease. This is important, because as a part of the Department of Defense, it easy for the staff to fall into an attitude of complacence. Once this occurs, is when the obvious weaknesses in the various departments become more severe and could require years, to effectively correct the various problems. As a result, the surveys are good first start, but must have an effective mechanism of identifying the problem early. When you have random spot checks of those departments that are scoring poorly on the survey, you are making the organization more…
Once the practice of Islamic worship the women of that region began to be subjected to stricter codes, from marriage to dress and the risk of honor becoming an even greater issue grew. The terrorization by the Mongols and Turks was quite different from the terror under Saddam. The Mongols and Turks utilized slavery, rape, beatings and murder. Saddam instead took on an entirely different approach. His first goal was fear coupled with violence to maintain the plans he made for the society and culture. He was less about Islam and more about self-promotion and the glorification of Iraq. This type of leader is most like Josef Stalin of the Soviet Union. One never knew when or why you might be targeted.
Following the fall of the Ba'th government, the population of women in Iraq was at approximately 60%. They are a definite majority and should be in a better…

One of the strongest correlations between periodontal disease and another disease that could have heavy implications as to whether periodontal disease progresses is the correlation and relationship between diabetes and periodontal disease.
A recent study determines that "the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) and periodontal disease/periodontitis (PD) is high, and the association of these two as risk factors influencing each other has been recognized and is extensively documented" (Acharya, Satyanarayan, Thakur, 2010, p. 70). This is another disease that is correlated to periodontal disease, and with that correlation is additional evidence that gingivitis does not always preclude the more destructive form of periodontal disease. Many periodontal therapists have for the last few years known and espoused the fact that patients who took care of their oral health faced far fewer health related challenges than those that did not. One 2002 study professed "health professionals need to be cognizant of…
He or she is also entitled to proper medication to deal with the disease.
It's not just the responsibility of medics to offer health care but the family members of the sick too play a very important role in caring about health. By accompanying the sick person to hospital and administering the prescribed medicine at home. As well, family members offer support by praying and giving the sick member company. Did you know that even loneliness is a health hazard.
Quality health care is individual responsibility. Every individual is supposed to make sure they have the best health always. Contagious diseases should be avoided at all costs, however, should we contact them then we should care for ourselves. A sick person should maintain bodily cleanliness and eat the right foods. Ones health should not also cause harm to neighbors at home and in public. Global concerns are also rising quickly…
The infant mortality rate is of 8.97 deaths per 1,000 live births. This rate places Kuwait on the 160th position on the chart of the CIA. The adult prevalence rate of HIV / AIDS is of 0.1 per cent.
In terms of economy, Kuwait is a relatively open, small and wealthy economy. It relies extensively on oil exports -- petroleum exports for instance account for 95 per cent of the total export revenues as well as for 95 per cent of the federal income. The Kuwaiti representatives have recently set the goal of increasing the oil production per day. Currently, Kuwait is facing the pressures of the internationalized economic crisis -- which however, due to recent economic surpluses in Kuwait, affects the economy to a lower extent.
Simultaneously with the increase in oil production, the Kuwaiti authorities are also focusing on diversifying the economic activities in the sense of supporting…
Norris consistently returns to the animalistic descriptions of McTeague. Early in the story Norris compares him to the likes of a work horse. Such harmless animals focus solely on survival in that they plow the fields so that they can eat. It is this initial description of McTeague as a harmless work horse contrasted with his "abominable" (265) actions in killing Trina that tend to show that violence itself is the inevitable end result of the city's corruptive power.
Before meeting Trina, McTeague is a sexless cart-horse like man among city urbanites, but she awakens the beast inside him in terms of sexuality and obsession. McTeague's foray into sexuality is comingles with a fetishism for gold. Trina conflates sexual pleasure with the possession of money. She often refers to her gold as "beauties" and declares "I love you" as she calls out "Mine, mine, mine -- all of you mine"…
