Tactical and Sustainment 1/8 ABCT Operations Development and Analysis of Doctrinal Solutions to Tactical Problems Mission Statement As an 1/8 ABCT Commander, Our core mission is to use the maneuver and fire to destroy the enemy forces and repel their attacks by close combat, fire, and counterattacks. Our mission statement is to defeat the enemy based on the northern flank in order to protect the main body of the division. Moreover, we should dedicate in seizing the OBJ BRAVO, which is a city 80 Kilometers from the west of BRIDGEPORT.
As an important division of a decisive operation, our mission is to seize the OBJ BRAVO to protect the II Corps. The 1/8 ABCT's decisive operation is to seize the OBJ BRAVO to protect the main effort of the II Corps. The 1/8 ABCT will also advance as a division to achieve a decisive operation. Our mission is to exercise authority to achieve disciplined initiative and intent to apply agile and adaptive leading in order to conduct a unified land operations.
Our mission is also to use different tactics to exercise authority by understanding a correct doctrine. We will utilize the Army operational process to practice the mission order. 2. Intent of the Mission 1/8 ABCT Commander's Intent to achieve the Mission The intent of the mission is to overcome several obstacles of the enemies. Typically, the enemies have overturned the building materials and vehicles on the ROUTE ORANGE, which is the south of the BRIDGEPORT in order to influence friendly force to deploy military assets as early as possible.
We will use all the military tactics to disrupt the enemies' movements. Moreover, our task is to approach BRIDGEPORT to attack the enemies and disburse accurate and consistent RPG fire at the enemies. Our task is also to increase the fire intensity as the enemies approach the outskirt of the town. Our end state is to use the decisive action in achieving combination of continuous and simultaneous defensive, offensive and stability to achieve decisive tasks. Moreover, our tasks are to combine the three elements-defense, offense, and stability. (Richard, & Jonathan, 2013). 3.
Identification of the ABCT's primary Defensive Offensive task OR Defensive Task The ABCT's is to take a hasty defensive position very near the BRIDGEPORT across the CENTER RIVER over the ROUTE ORANGE. The brigade is also to develop defensive action over the BRIDGEPORT. Our offensive task is to destroy and defeat the enemy forces, secure and seize the terrain using a coordinated movement, supported by fires using the decisive operations to destroy the enemy's disposition.
We will exploit the offensive task to conduct successive attack to disorganize and disintegrate the enemy force where they will have no alternative but to flight or surrender. We will use the offensive attack to breach obstacle and neutralize enemy forces. The ABCT will accomplish this objective by conducting a penetration tactic to attack the enemy base. Our decisive operation is to destroy the enemy's forces. Our engineers will improve our mobility by destroying the enemy infantry forces as well as suppressing the enemy armor. 4.
Identification and explication of the ABCT's Decisive Operation The ABCT's decisive operation is to destroy all the enemies' weapons by attacking their base to prevent disruption of ABCT's operation. There will be an attack on enemies to suppress their armors and destroy their infantry forces. Characteristics of decisive operation will consist of surprise, audacity, tempo and concentration. The ABCT will use offensive action to capitalize on timely and accurate intelligence regarding the enemy forces. (William, 2009).The commander will manoeuver forces to achieve advantageous positions.
The protection tasks will be used for the operational security as well as inhibiting and preventing the enemy from acquiring information. The ABCT's decisive operation is to conduct penetration by seizing south of MARYSVILLE and north of BRIDGEPORT. Critical decisive operation is to destroy enemy forces using a sudden and shattering action to capitalize on COP (common operational picture), which will be expanded throughout the operation. The ABCT will execute a violent operation without hesitation in order to destroy the enemy and break the enemy's will. 5.
Identification and Explanation of the ABCT's Shaping Operations The ABCT's shaping operation is to use a hostile front to fix enemy's forces using current position and prevent the enemy from disengaging in order to use a decisive operation on enemy. The ABCT will track the battle progress in order to assist the subordinate forces to penetrate the enemy's security areas and enemy's main defensive positions.
Although, the enemy may try to gain time to slow down and react to the changing situation, however, the ABCT will exploit the attack rapidly to reinforce success. The ABCT will use all the available resources to penetrate the enemy's defensive position using the military deception and electronic warfare to desynchronize the enemy's position. The ABCT shaping operation is to destabilize the enemy's military resources to disrupt their zone of support. Section 2: Sketch and Explanation a. Depict the Cavalry Squadron Location's on the Sketch.
The cavalry squadron's location will be at the 1/8 north road of the ABCT location in the sketch. Fundamental purpose of the cavalry squadron is to provide security for the close operations. By carrying this operation, the cavalry squadron will facilitate the task of ABCT's commander in maneuvering the battalions, to concentrate on their superior combat power and apply the tactics against the enemy at a decisive point and time. The role of cavalry is to allow the commander to conserve power, carry out defensive and offensive missions.
Based on the location of the cavalry squadron, the ABCT will be able to launch warfare to achieve tactical sense, and attack enemy's vulnerability such as cutting the line of their communication, and destroy their service support capability. Fig 1: Tactics and Sustainment Sketch b. Purpose and Task of the Cavalry Squadron The purpose and task of the cavalry squadron is to use the tactical sense, position combat forces and implement swift movement to attack enemy's line of communication.
The task of cavalry is also to maneuver using the tactical sense to exploit offensive opportunities. In other words, maneuver is to use the power of superior combat against the enemies. c. Explanation of Decision to Locate the Tactical Command Post and Main Command Post The major reason for locating the command post at the eastern part of the sketch is to assist the commander exercising both control and command.
Moreover, command post will assist the command to collect critical information about the military equipment, personnel, and procedures. The location of the command post is ideal because it is very close to the BRIDGEPORT, an enemy's location. Thus, the command will be able to effectively coordinate planning, directing, and controlling to destroy the enemy capabilities. However, the tactical post is located at the southern part of the sketch because the post is very near to OBJ BRAVO and BRIDGEPORT, the enemies' locations.
The mission of the tactical post is to close to the enemies with a complete mobility. Section 3: Sustainment 7.
