The shortage in primary care physicians in the world escalates every day. This is prevalent in underserved populations. The cause of this is that fewer medical students are taking primary medical care fields as required, regardless of the growing need for these services. The decrease in primary care nurses is multifactor and financial incapability of students is one of the factors. Having the opportunity of a scholarship into nursing, I would spend adequate time in making sure that the areas I am to serve receive the best. I understand that the objective of the scholarship provision for nursing is to provide adequate healthcare intervention in underserved community through the practical empowerment of nursing students. For this reason, I would take the interest of the community seriously, fulfilling the health needs, which they would ever come with needing my help. The underserved communities have problems with accessibility of health care services, and being one of the students who would be providing primary care in the community, I would dedicate myself by always ensuring availability whenever I am called to help. The communities deserve getting healthcare services, for the maintenance of a healthy livelihood. It is using the time that I have been given to serve the community, which I would take advantage of in making sure that the underserved communities stop suffering from lack of healthcare services.

An underserved community is one that has none or limited health care providers. These communities face under development and are affected by the limitations in the numbers of healthcare providers. Having come from an example of underserved community, I have first hand information regarding the challenges faced by such communities. The first challenge is that these communities do not even have sufficient healthcare facilities. This leaves them with the challenge of bearing with difficult circumstances whenever a health situation arises. The underserved communities suffer from a lack of healthcare providers. Because they have no facilities, it is always very hard for them to access healthcare services from other areas. In fact, it is much hard because these communities have little financial status and affording decent care services. I feel prepared working in underdeveloped communities because I have lived in one, in the past. Having the experience that I possess from my past interaction with such communities, I understand the problems they face. I would use that experience to help in developing solutions, which would give the communities a chance of moving forward and enjoying a healthy lifestyle.
