Compliance to low probability requests using parental verbal praise

Dependent Variable
The dependent variable is the child behavior targeted for change. The primary dependent behavior is their compliance to LPR (Low Probability Request) framed as do or don't request.
The subject consists of 15-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy
The experiment is carried out in the children home. In the baseline (A); the parent made series of randomly verbal praise for children compliance and non-praise for non-compliance. In the HPR phase (B) phase, the parents followed the similar baseline procedure. The A-B-A-B is used for the design.
Independent Variable
The independent variable is the intervention strategy used to change the child behavior. The independent variable consists of parents' verbal praise for children compliance and non-praise for non-compliance. The strategy is by influencing the treatment variable on children in order to test child compliance to an adult request. The study also tests the impact of fading treatment and magnitude of treatment variable of time.

Strength and Limitations of the Reversal Design
The strengths of reversal design are that it allows parents to measure the effects of the independent variable for the target behavior. Moreover, the reversal design assists in demonstrating the relationship between dependent and independent variables. It is also easy to use. However, it is not appropriate to make a confident assumption with reference to a functional relationship. It is also not suitable for replication. The reversal design is not appropriate when target behaviors cannot be reversed. It is not appropriate when the experiment is not clinical desirable.
Strengths and Limitations of the Independent Variable ("token economy")
The strength of the independent variable is that it assists in designing effective modification behavior based on the use of the token. Moreover, the token economy assists parents or teachers to decrease an undesirable behavior among children. The tokens are used for reinforcement that helps in establishing desirable behaviors. More benefit of the independent variable is that it is appropriate to be used for general education, and special education students. Thus, the token economy is good to correct behaviors among children. Moreover, the token economy makes physical punishment be less important in schools or at home because parents will learn the strategy to correct their children behaviors. It also makes parents acquire skills to plan for the future of the children since they understand the strategy to manage the behaviors of their children. Moreover, the token economy is an alternative reinforcement strategy for children who do not find schools rewarding. (Fiksdal, 2014).
