Every Child Should be Wanted

Unfortunately, unwanted pregnancies are a fact of life. Young teenagers become pregnant because they don't have access to birth control; women become pregnant after being raped, and either birth control fails to work or human negligence causes birth control not to be responsibly used.

Abortion helps these women avoid having unwanted children.

For a variety of reasons, women do not want the child they are carrying. Teenagers and young women typically don't have the financial resources to support the child and are at a stage in their own life when they feel they should be fostering their own personal growth vs. looking after a child. or, some women may not be in a committed relationship where they would be assured of a father figure for the child. Victims of rape may find in morally repulsive to give birth to the child of someone who has sexually assaulted them.

Adoption is the suggested alternative to abortion. but, women shouldn't be forced to give birth to a child they do not want and may be unable to afford the cost of having a baby which can be as much as $14,000 (Greenfield, 2001). Even if the woman has medical insurance, it may pay for only a fraction of these costs. Further' there's no guarantee that there will be a family that will want the child once it is delivered. On any given day in the United States, more than 100,000 foster children are waiting to be adopted by someone who can provide a permanent, loving home (Macomber, Zielewski, Chambers and Geen (2005).

Every child should be wanted.

However, many women become pregnant with children they and others simply do not want. It seems unfair to the women, and, more importantly, to the child to bring an unwanted child into this world.

Abortion Should Not Be Legal The ongoing debate on the issue of whether abortion should be a legal option still divides people of USA although it has been long since the Roe v Wade case wherein the legality of abortion was upheld in a U.S. Supreme Court decision. Supporters branding themselves as pro-choice argue that abortion is a personal right which should not be restricted by governmental or religious authority which

Abortion Debate With the growing awareness regarding gender roles and their due rights, the number of misunderstandings and misapprehensions has also considerably augmented. Abortion, by some is considered the right of a woman or of the parents of the unborn child, by some a crime and by many others a debatable and a highly controversial issue. However, it has been observed that the underlying aspects of the issue under consideration are

Abortion is a polarizing issue. The debate divides families as well as politicians. However, I am all too well aware of the fact that there are many individual stories that are far more complex than the black-and-white shades in which the issue is presented by the media. Take the example of the aunt of one of my best friends from high school. My friend's aunt became pregnant: this was joyous news

Abortion In this day and age it is almost impossible to find a more highly charged issue than that of abortion. Every man and woman appears to have an opinion if not personal experience or knows a family member who has had to make the decision about an unplanned pregnancy. But whether your feelings are based on religious beliefs or personal or family experience, there are some interesting statistics which may

" Not so, states Sykes, a pro-choice supporter. How can one force, for example, a girl in early teens who has been raped to deliver and have to consider the major decisions of motherhood? Similarly, adds Deam (1997) who had to make a personal decision about her own on this issue, abortion should be an option when it is known that a child has a fatal or chronically debilitating birth defect.

In this context the argument is made from a moral and religious point-of-view that the unborn child is alive and that abortion is tantamount to murder. As Bohan (1999) states in the House of Atreus: Abortion as a Human Rights Issue, "No society that truly believes in human rights can fail to recognize the right to life of the unborn. Human rights are, by definition, rights, which inhere in one
