Essay
I have been employed full-time with Acertec Enterprise since May of this year. My role in the company has changed dramatically since this time. Acertec Enterprise is owned and operated by my father and the uncertain state of the company has necessitated that I take a temporary hiatus from medical pursuits. Since May I have been the sole project manager of a 12 building remediation project. My duties as project manager are wide ranging and include but are not limited to: supervision of workmanship, managing payroll, conferencing with architects to ensure proper installation, working with vendors to properly order material, and maintaining general site safety and compliance with OSHA safety standards. It has been difficult being thrust into a managerial role with limited experience but my employment has improved both my business acumen and my communication skills. The most important take-away from my new role has been that I feel that I truly belong in the field of medicine. The brief time spent away from medicine has deepened my appreciation for the profession and given me renewed desire to get back into the field as soon as possible.

After completing my undergraduate degree at Rutgers New Brunswick in the spring of 2015 I immediately enrolled in the graduate school of Biomedical Sciences at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. I completed the entirety of the course work from 2015-2016 and was involved in an NIH-funded study on the role of HRVBF as an asthma therapeutic. I presented the results at an international conference in Seattle, Washington, in March of 2016. I elected to continue on as a graduate student focusing on a research thesis instead of course work. From 2016-2017, I headed a meta-analysis research team and I am currently in the process of getting these results published. Over the same time period (following the completion of my undergraduate degree), I also expanded my clinical experience by spending time with an anesthesiologist, and an oculopastic surgeon as well as a general practitioner. As I mentioned above I am currently employed full-time and I am continuing to expand my clinical experience while working to get my research published.
