¶ … applying for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Management program at ____ to pursue formal academic training in business administration. Presently, I am the [position/title] of ArcMind, the it software development company that I established in [year] with minimal resources and financing.

In that capacity, I have been solely responsible for strategic planning as well as day-to- day business operations including human resource matters, sales, marketing, and contract negotiations.

Under my direction, ArcMind has evolved into a respected industry leader in the software development community, providing services to several Fortune 100 corporate clients and generating more than $1.5 in annual revenue. Naturally, I am particularly proud of our success because it has been extremely challenging to oversee all facets of ArcMind business operations without any formal business training. Nevertheless, I hope that the ____ Bachelor of Science in Management program will enable me to expand on the current success of my company and to pursue other business ventures in the near future.

While the challenge of achieving relative success in the competitive it field has been very rewarding to me personally, I recognize the value of formal business management training. In that regard, I genuinely consider myself extremely fortunate to have seen ArcMind already develop into a viable organization; with a formal business administration degree, I am confident that we will greatly surpass our initial success.

One of our long-term goals at ArcMind is to fund both educational and vocational training opportunities in disadvantaged communities.

Devoting myself to multiple responsibilities is nothing new for me, having recently been awarded a Fine Arts degree from the University of Phoenix while simultaneously fulfilling my work responsibilities and those of primary caretaker to four children between the ages of 3 and 11. During that time, I overcame several considerable obstacles, including three high-risk pregnancies, several hospitalizations, and the international complexities associated with adopting an infant from a Cambodian orphanage.

In large part, I credit my family with my commitment to overcome adversity and to succeed; they instilled in me the belief in my own abilities and the sense of communal responsibility to give back to my community or origin. Specifically, I have had the opportunity to organize charitable support for Cambodian orphanages in the form of fundraising intended to establish water wells, mosquito netting, and basic medical services and vaccinations. Domestically, I have volunteered at church, assisted in fundraising efforts for domestic violence victims programs, and provided pro bono consultation, coaching, and mentoring services for local small business owners and start- up companies.
