Master's of Education -- Community Agency Counseling

The learning process ought to support learners, ensuring that they not only become successful but also responsible and contributing members of the society. It also ought to ensure that learners reach their full potential -- from an academic, professional, as well as personal perspective. I seek admission for a Master's of Education degree, with a concentration in Community Agency Counseling. I intend to execute my professional duties in a non-school setting. Essentially, the relevance of this program cannot be overstated, especially when it comes to preparing ground for Licensure as a Professional Counselor.

A number of life's experiences have made me whom I am. These same experiences qualify me for a fulfilling career in Community Agency Counseling. I believe that everybody deserves a second chance -- an opportunity to aim after missing the mark the first time. Life has given me plenty of second chances. Looking back, I have failed countless times -- be it in meeting my educational goals or in meeting other personal goals and objectives. All this time, however, I have always had an opportunity to try once more. I do not see any reason someone else should be denied such an opportunity. It is for this reason that I would like to work in a community counseling setting -- specifically, in a correctional institution setting. In my role, I will be most excited to develop rehabilitation programs for prisoners and counseling offenders. This will put me in a rare position to help improve the lives of law offenders.

The concentration I intend to pursue prepares candidates to become counselors in community agencies and other private sectors. I am fully aware that in this case, I not only be required to complete core counseling courses, but also courses specific to community counseling. In addition to ensuring that I meet the requirements of Licensure as a Professional Counselor in Texas and the stipulations set fourth by the National Board of Certified Counselors, such instruction will also prepare me for my professional engagement, with my ideal work station being federal prisons.
