¶ … international student who has lived in the United States for two years. My first year in the States was spent at ESL school, during which I learned how to speak, read, and write English. Although I still have some difficulty with the language and am not yet fluent, I look forward to improving my English skills as I stay in the country. I have been attending junior college for the past year, and have enjoyed a rich and dynamic social life. I enjoy my classes and the people at my school, but I am ready for a change. I would like to pursue different curriculum than that offered at my junior college. The education I have received provided a broad set of courses that allowed me to improve my English skills and learn the basics of different subjects. My time at junior college prepared me for the challenges of an education in a second language. However, I now wish to transfer to Northeastern University to focus more on computer science.
Nowadays, the mastery of new technology is important for businesses and all matters in life. Information technologies offer the most rewarding and exciting career prospects, and computer science is also a field I enjoy. I am eager to learn about the different aspects of computer science: programming, software engineering, networking, and systems management. Because I have an aptitude for mathematics and analytical thinking, the coursework in algorithms and programming will stimulate me. The elective courses for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science all seem rewarding.
The opportunities for future advancement in this field are enticing. My future goals are to work in the field of computers and information technologies, whether I choose to specialize more in hardware, software, database management, or networking. I hope to explore all the different avenues of computer science, including virtual reality and artificial intelligence. These different but related areas will encourage me to think critically and solve problems that arise in the design and implementation of computer systems and applications. The coursework will be challenging, stimulating, and highly rewarding.
