Hospital Admission Analysis Readmission Statistics (Denominator) Total Number of Readmits Total Number of Patients Readmitted # of Patients with Multiple Readmits In looking at readmissions, there were only three patients that were re-admitted more than once. Everyone else admitted once and, at most, readmitted once. For the readmits, no single hospital seems to have a problem. One sidenote is that one of the readmits (patient 740019266) was readmitted once to Crouse and then twice more to St. Joseph's. The reason for each readmit for that same patient is actually different.

Further, the overall reason for readmits varies greatly and is not defined by any primary or common causes except perhaps breathing/pain issues of many kinds. Overall Admission Statistics Admissions of Males (Total) Admission of Females (Total) Readmissions of Females Readmissions of Males Multiple Admissions - Males Multiple Admissions - Females In looking at the rates of admissions, readmissions and multiple admissions, it is clear that women are being admitted and readmitted at a noticeably higher clip than men.

While part of this can be attributed to the fact that women outnumber men, the different in frequency cannot be explained by that alone. The reasons for these admissions and readmissions run the gamut, but it is clear that women are more present than men in these multiple admissions or readmissions. Discharge Cites (Denominator) Top Discharge Cites Albany Medical Center Hospital 12 St.

Joseph Hospital Health Center 12 Beth Israel Medical Center 10 NY Hospital Medical Center of Queens 9 This point of analysis shows that the more common discharge sites are a bit spread out. Of course, Albany Medical Center would be in the Albany area and not remotely close to the NYC core. Beth Israel is in NYC, Queens is in NYC and St. Joseph is in the Syracuse area.

Basically, two of the top four are in the NYC area while the other two are in some of the other major population centers in the state of New York. Top Medical Maladies (Denominator) Coronary Atherosclerosis 9 Obstructive Chronic Bronchitis 9 Pneumonia of any form 6 Diabetes Issues 6 Depressive Disorder.
