Adolescence is an important stage between childhood and adulthood where individuals undergo a serious transition in their lives. Societies have diverse concerning this stage, as it is the case of the American society depicted in this study. Evidently, this stage ushers varying transformations in the personalized life among the concerned in the society: ancient fathers viewed it as advantageous to the growth and development of a person from being a childhood to adulthood.
Adolescence-How Adolescence Viewed Cultures
Adolescence-How Adolescence is viewed by other Cultures
Adolescence refers to a transitional stage that happens through the physical orientations among human beings. Adolescence is categorical of the physical and psychological development in human beings as they grow from childhood to adulthood. The process occurs during the period of puberty and ends when one gets to maturity. For many people, adolescence is a recurrent problem since it occurs with differences in capital and minor considerations. Among some people, adolescence occurs at early stages of growth and development. In other people, adolescence occurs late in the stages of growth and development. The basic factor behind the general occurrence of adolescence is categorical of every factor that takes place in the biological. Many factors of human growth and development are regarded when it comes to management of the necessary growth avenues (Stange et al., 2011).
The information from various perspectives determines the understanding of everything concerned with adolescence among people. Nonetheless, the perspectives of the biological, sociological, historical, and educational offers rudimentary avenues through which people perceive adolescence. A number of psychological and biological changes among the people mark the process of transition between childhood and adulthood involved. In order to foster equitable management of adolescence, many societies have varying views and perceptions as concerns three general aspects of adolescence (Hayes, 2005).
Adolescence views different cultures to be against their fundamentals of living. Adolescence culture is one of the basic factors that determine the rate and nature in which human beings grow and develop during the entire process of adolescence. In many cases, adolescence has negative and confused perceptions towards adolescence culture. Adolescence is a normal activity that takes place in the life of every person. All the people go through diverse cases of adolescence growth and development. Therefore, it does not make any equitable sense to understand adolescence culture as a negative precept in the stage of human growth and development. Many adolescent people do not like the characteristics and orientations that are making part of the living. In the normal purpose of adolescence, it is normal to find and take concern of the complicated psychological changes in the biological actions. Nonetheless, the perceptions by many people are diverted and directed to the normal aspects of growth and development.
Adolescence culture is dated back to the ancient times. Many cultures perceive adolescence as a normalized stage of human growth and development. Much attention is not directed to the biological perceptions. Adolescence happens to all the people in the society. This precept has provided an opinion that the occurrence of adolescence is traditional, and part of the necessary stages of life that one must go through in life. According to the traditional perceptions, adolescence has been taking place in the world without retreat from some communities. Different communities have differing perceptions as regards adolescence. For instance, the differences in perceptions have resulted in distinct characteristics and orientations of one community over another. While some communities view adolescence as a normal act in human life, some view it as an option that one engages in order to come of age. Such communities use adolescence as a stepping-stone to many things that are categorical of all members in the society.
Through adolescence, different communities have a notion that one gets to accept and be part of the traditions and normalized ways of behaviors. For instance, adolescence among boys enables them to accept their roles in the community and society. Adolescence among girls is a tool that ushers them to perceive and partake of the daily chores assigned to them as female counterparts. In many societies, adolescence occurs in wait for varying roles responsibilities in the society. One would not be allowed to be part of a society or community without undergoing the entire process of adolescence. In most cases, the occurrence of adolescence happens with use and engagement in many other rituals and traditions that are part of life in a generalized state of living. Therefore, adolescence is a necessary facet that one must go through in life.
Human transition is a lethal facet in many traditional communities and practices. Without the transition mechanisms, it would be difficult to have structures mannerisms of existence and dominance among many people. Adolescence offers a grounded stage in which open gets to know and learn of the different orientations that occur in the society. It marks a stage of transition from one level of life to another. For instance, the changes in human or biological orientations among boys and girls categorize them to be at varying levels of growth and development. In many societies, adolescence boys are regarded to be at the stage of being transformed from being bys to being men. On the other hand, girls who are under the adolescence stage are regarded to be at critical positions where they are supposed to engage in activities that help them to grow and be real members of a given community.
Adolescence ushers varying transformations in the personalized life among the concerned in the society. In most cases, the ancient fathers viewed adolescence periods as advantageous to the growth and development of a person from being a child to being an adult. This growth stage or process is characterized by invariant changes in the normal way in which people understand. The changes are expected to impact on the perceptive and understanding connotations within a person. Therefore, adolescence is as indispensable as education in many societies. Before one gets to the stage of adolescence, he or she is regarded as a child who has not yet met the requirements of being a real community member. When a person has met and completed all the adolescence stages, he or she is regarded as one of the members of the society. He or she should be responsible and ready to involve in many activities that are directed at producing to the society and the community.
The general perception of adolescence among the traditional societies and communities is negative in nature. It becomes easy to find a society dwelling in assembling adolescence in many parameters of life. The act of adolescence is accepted but denied in many communities. For instance, many young people under the stage of adolescence avoid letting other members of the family or the community know about them. For instance, girls under the stage of adolescence avoid being known or relating with other members of the society. This is because they know that their stage of growth and development is given little consideration in their communities. On the other hand, boys would always try to avoid being mentioned or seen as embracing adolescence periods in their lives.
In most cases, they love to be alone and private in their lives. This is because of many negative perceptions that have been associated with adolescence in the communities they live. The negative perceptions and feelings that are associated with adolescence make many people avoid and feel ashamed while in this stage. The society and communities are the main sources of these perceptions. In many cases, it becomes hard to have a society that appreciates all the perceptions of adolescence without any negative perception drawn from it.
The culture of adolescence is a common facet in many societies. The existence and safety of many adolescent people is a common understanding. This is an understanding that all the changes that take place in the lives of many are drawn to the nature of living they have. Different groups of adolescent youth have common characteristics that dictate their thinking and the physical orientations in their lives. For instance, it is less fortunate to have a common ground of performance that will dictate a positive perception in the society. Regular attention is given to the overall dominance and rule of common human behaviors. In most cases, adolescence is seen as a negative facet since it divides many youth into groups that are likely to destroy their normal growth and development in the society.
Traditionally, it was a common activity to have adolescent youth as members of the society. Much attention was given to the manner in which a person goes through the various expectations of growth and development before they are done with the entire stage of adolescence. For instance, many members of the society would treat adolescent people are going through a tedious moment in their lives. The expectations of these people are relevant to their rate of growth and development. In a normalized state of growth and development, it would be easy to have a common ground over which they are able to live explicitly in accordance to the present rules and regulations in the society. Many rules and regulations dictated on the normal stages through which adolescent young people went through in their lives (Arnett, 2002).
Adolescence period is a tedious stage among many people in the society. For instance, one gets annoyed with the sexual orientations that are taking place in the body. With a traditional understanding, such changes in the biological exemplifications are drawn to the general stages of human growth and development. Little impact is made on the general stages of performance among these people. In the ancient time, adolescence was regarded with little significance in the biological exemplifications. For instance, the adolescent people were expected to stand their trials that come with urgency of adolescence. In general, adolescence was a crucial stage of human life. Through this stage, many activities took place in the personal and communal life. Without the stages of growth and development, it would be unintelligent to have a simplified stage of growth and development among the youth in the society.
What are the differences and similarities with the western view of adolescence?
The western view of adolescence is different from those held by the traditional rudimentary stages of human life. There are clear differences and perceptions drawn from the two stages of perceptions in the society. For instance, the western perception of adolescence is totally related to the biological changes in human growth and development. Few considerations are made about the traditional perceptions and acceptances that happen during this stage of life (Arnett, 2002).
The western society has varying undertakings of human adolescence. These understandings are offered in schools and other institutions of learning. Unlike with the traditional perceptions, the western societies offer equitable teachings and lessons as concerns adolescence. In the traditional perception, adolescence was not a subject of teaching in the society. In most cases, the respective members of the society offered corrective teachings that were directed at relishing the best out of the people under adolescence. In the western societies, the normal society and institutions offers teachings concerning the adolescent in the society. Education is included in the institutional curriculum (Corner & Bailey, 2009).
The curriculum ensures that all the adolescent people are brought to the limelight over the changes they are experiencing in their lives. It becomes easy to have considerations that are dictated at certain and vivid understating over the biological changes in the body. Unlike in the traditional perception where the adolescent were not offered public teachings, the western society views adolescence as a normal stage over which the body changes it orientations in order to serve the different needs and specifications from the society.
In the western societies, adolescence culture is all-biological in nature. Though its effects transcend to the psychological and physical changes in the life of the people, all happen because of the biological orientations in the body. The traditional culture over adolescence did not have such a perception. In the western state of perception, normal changes are directed at establishing stability in the functioning of the various body organs and systems in the body. The stage is accompanied by varying biological changes that influence on the psychological and physical changes in the body of the concerned members. In most cases, it becomes relevant to have a favorable ground that dictates or establish a professional understanding that is not like that of the traditional perception (Simmons & Blyth, 2009).
