The media has done a tremendous job when it comes to the coverage of Nancy Pelosi and Donald Trump. There are numerous news articles, opinions, and analysis all focusing on the two. The left-leaning media outlets have been quite upfront and they have not failed to demonstrate their grievances. There is a clear impression being made on the popularity of Nancy Pelosi against that of Donald Trump. Nancy Pelosi is shown as the one person who has stood up to Trump and she has maintained her focus especially in regards to the government shutdown. The State of the Union address had to be postponed to a date that was conducive and acceptable to Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats. This shows how much she was not willing to give in to the demands of the president. While some articles will portray Nancy Pelosi as being a winner, there are others that show her to have lost. The Fix news article that was published on January 23 titled "Pelosi trumps Trump" (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pelosi-trumps-trump) clearly demonstrates that she was unwilling to give in to the demands of Trump. According to an opinion article published by David Byler in the Washington Post "Don’t overthink this. Trump lost the shutdown." (https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/01/29/dont-overthink-this-trump-lost-shutdown/) the author posits that negative ratings for Nancy Pelosi have shot up from 28 percent to 34 percent during the scuffle between her and Trump. As it stands right now her negative ratings are at 47 percent. The coverage here is not about the ratings for Nancy Pelosi the author wants to question the notion that Trump lost and Pelosi won in regards to the government shutdown. The author portrays how wrong it was for Trump to shut down the government to push for funding for the wall yet at the end of the day he did not get the funding.
