OSI Model Analogy -- Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Browser

Professor Jones is hard at work on his new lecture series regarding the ancient Mayan custom of miniature calendar building in the jungles of Kasio, next to Swatch, Brazil. He'd love to get back there but he doesn't have the time. There is a knock on the door and Dr. Jones says "come in…: not looking up from his laptop. In walks a sultry, red-haired Russian who is a venture capitalist from New York. "Dr. Jones, nice to meet you…. I have a proposition for you…" Immediately Dr. Jones jumps from his desk and looking disheveled, extend a hand. "Nice to meet you Ms…" without missing a beat the Russian red-head says "Please call me Natasha…nice to meet you Dr. Jones." She sits down and hands Dr. Jones a map of one of the oldest sections of Rio de Janeiro. He takes it from her and admires it. "The ancient city of Sustantivo was built here…I know it well." She motions for him to keep the map. "Dr. Jones I need your help, I have a business opportunity own all programming services in Sustantivo -- but I hear there is a temple buried deep beneath the city that has something even more valuable than programmers!" Dr. Jones interprets "The forbidden golden monkeys of Sustantivo! Of course." Dr. Jones realizes that the golden monkeys are part legend but an explorer found one in the 1880s and suddenly vanished never to be seen again. "Dr. Jones I want to hire you to find the remaining golden monkeys of Sustantivo!" Dr. Jones keeps the map and schedules time with Natasha to get a retainer going. (This completes the Physical Layer of the OSI Model) (Cavaiani, 2002).

Next, Dr. Jones takes the map, scans it into an image format and posts it to a secured area of his website. He sends the link to his closest advisors globally and asks them for feedback. He's careful to embed all the information in the actual graphic, not having any text that could potentially be hacked or taken. He also asks for return receipt of each e-mail announcing the map, and each of this peers across the universities of the world immediately respond back with questions, some with critical analysis, but mostly with interest in finding the golden monkeys of Sustantivo. This completes the data link layer.
