¶ … Bill Becomes Law The following is a matter that relates to the nursing community. It requires legislative attention. There is a research that leads to a proposal on the same. The Situation Shortage in the nursing staffs has been a matter of considerable concern lately. The nursing fraternity is faced with a cash flow problem in the current financial year.

It has been noted that future plans that have promised some funding assistance are unlikely to succeed (American Association of Colleges of Nursing -- State Legislative Initiatives to Address the Nursing Shortage). Such a desired end seems unlikely because there are fewer new nurses joining the nursing career. Nevertheless, there is an alternative way to realize funding for these critical programs and attract more nursing staff in the community. The new Nurse Support Program (NSP) is one of the ways the program can be revitalized.

NSP is a notion proposed by Governor Robert L. The Illinois Governor Rod R Blagojevich rolled a program to raise the number of nursing faculties for the education of nurses in order to address the nursing program facing the state. He also suggested that financial assistance provided to nursing students should be increased. He further suggested that a nursing plan should be developed for the future nursing workforce.

The Nurse Educator Act was implemented by the Illinois general assembly. The program provides $5,000 in repayable loans and up to $10,000 in scholarships offered to nursing students in various graduate nursing schools. It was also meant to create more employment opportunities for students that are working and bolster their education prospects at masters and graduate level.

It was also meant to open doors to people in other careers to join the nursing profession. About seven nursing support agencies in Utah succeeded in securing financial assistance from the legislature. They secured two million dollars and a matching 1 million dollars matching funds from the hospitals represented by the Utah Hospital Association.
