Analysis of Bob Schmoe’s Test Results Bob Schmoe is a 34-year old Caucasian male whose cognitive and intellectual functioning was evaluated using Wide Range Achievement Test 4 (WRAT-4) and Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence 2 (WASI-2). These two tests provided significant insights regarding Bob’s cognitive functioning, which can be utilized to identify his strengths and weaknesses with respect to his intelligence and achievement testing. The results of the test can also be utilized to provide a suitable diagnosis of his functioning as well as a comprehensive recommendation for enhancing his cognitive and intellectual functioning. Bob Schmoe’s Strengths Based on Bob Schmoe’s test results in WRAT-4 and WASI-2, some of his strengths include better cognitive abilities and comprehension skills. These skills that can be considered as Bob’s strengths are evident in the fact that he had high achievement scores in English language reading tasks as well as comprehension and verbal expression skills. Additionally, Bob’s verbal reasoning abilities is an indicator of his cognitive strength, which also plays a crucial role in his improved comprehension. Bob Schmoe’s Weaknesses Despite his cognitive and comprehension strengths, Bob seemingly struggles with complex tasks such as Math computation. As a result, Bob weaknesses include poor visual-spatial skills, poor non-verbal abilities, and relatively poor problem-solving skills. Even though his problem-solving skills fall within the average range of his peers, Bob is unable to handle complex tasks effectively, which implies that he struggles with poor problem-solving abilities. Therefore, he is unable to solve problems that are beyond the average level despite having better comprehension skills. Impact of His Strengths and Weaknesses on Overall Functioning Bob’s strengths and weaknesses have significant impacts on his overall functioning, particularly in relation to complex tasks. As evidenced in the test results, Bob is seemingly an average person whose overall functioning and performance is within the average range. For example, in WASI-2 test, Bob’s falls within the average category in six of the seven scales and low average category in the other scale. In WRAT-4 test, Bob’s results fell within the average and low average range. Therefore, Bob’s IQ can be classified as average based on Wechsler Score Classifications of Intelligence (Jordan Institute for Families, 2004). With an average IQ, Bob’s performs well or averagely in normal tasks while he struggles to perform well in complex ones. This implies that he has intellectual limitations that hinder his ability to effectively comprehend and handle complex tasks or issues. Consequently, he seemingly prefers to handle or deal with tasks that are relatively easy while avoiding complex ones where he performs worse than his peers. Therefore, Bob suffers from mild cognitive limitations that hinder his effective functioning in complex tasks. Suggestions or Recommendations for Bob Bob can overcome his weaknesses i.e. cognitive limitations to enhance his performance in complex tasks.
