Childhood Obesity in Turner County (Ages 6-11) What small group have you selected?

The group selected is a nuclear family comprising of parents and a male child who is obese (William).

What made you select this particular group?

The group was chosen owing to the unhealthy lifestyle of its members. It offers an adequately controllable setting in which to implement and test plan effectiveness. Further, one can deal with this group's numerous issues one-by-one by employing small measurable outcomes. Such an approach reduces key threatening issues gradually.

What portion of the plan would you like to implement in the small group?

The first part of this plan would entail dealing with Imbalanced Nutrition: i.e., more nutrition than the body actually needs. Nutrition is crucial for the human body, and for proper functioning of all bodily systems. Proper nutrition will help maintain appropriate and healthy body weight, provide energy to the body, decrease body fat, help one sleep better, and, in general, make one feel better. The above advantages have been corroborated by a number of well-documented scientific studies. Good nutrition will make one less prone to contracting several of the diseases plaguing mankind in the present era. What health risk do you expect to tackle by implementing this intervention?

It is imperative to have a balanced diet, as one's tissues and organs require sufficient nutrition in order to work properly. Without appropriate nutrition, the human body becomes more susceptible to fatigue, poor performance, diseases, and infections. Kids eating an unhealthy diet are at risk of weak academic performance and growth, and development issues. Bad dietary habits can well continue into adulthood and become lifelong habits.

Rising diabetes and obesity levels in the U.S. are the chief examples that can be cited, of the ill-effects of non-exercise and bad diet. Of the ten greatest causes of mortality in the U.S., four -- cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke -- are influenced directly by food habits.

What results do you expect?

Intervention implementation can cause a family to exercise properly and eat healthy. Nutritious foods recommended are;

Vegetables

Vegetables form the key sources of important minerals and vitamins. Green, leafy vegetables often contain maximum nutrition, and one can easily incorporate them into every meal. Various vegetables help one obtain ample nutrients provided by all vegetables. Some examples…
