Academy Sports + Outdoors is a Houston-based company that sells premier sports and outdoor products and services. They deal in a wide assortment of fishing, quality-hunting and camping gear. The firm deals in an assortment of goods and services, but the general focus is leisure and sportswear. The company runs over 200 outlets in Alabama, Indiana, Georgia, Florida North Carolina, Oklahoma, Missouri, South Carolina, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Tennessee. It is one of the largest sports and outdoor gear stores in the country. The company is owned and funded by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.L.P along with affiliate companies, KKR, and steered by President and CEO JK Symancyk (Academy Sports + Academy, 2016). The Academy Sports + Academy Ads

A Christian watchdog group targeted Academy Sports + Outdoors for encouraging spiritually dangerous programming- Turner (2016). The group says that the firm should stop advertizing the Monday Night Crime Drama 'Lucifer'. The drama is said to glorify Satan by claiming or portraying him as a good and compassionate being in human flesh. Morningstar is the character that plays the Lucifer role and makes the devil look like a great being, and one that women cannot resist; - director of "One Million Moms'. American Family Association director has requested the public to protest against organizations that show their ads during the time slot for Monday Night. Elise Hasbrook; the spokesperson for Academy Sports Outdoors, bought the prime time slot for its ads, which also included ads during the time for Lucifer show. She claimed that the ads had been posted in a small number of markets, but failed to disclose the number of markets that the Lucifer ads had already been posted in (Turner, 2016).
