Abstract

The paper looks at the political side of the decisions and actions and the consequences that should have come or may come with the recent actions by Anthony Weiner. It also looks at the brief history of the politician and the several activities that he has been involved in. The paper then takes sides on whether he should remain in the political arena or not

¶ … Anthony David Weiner became a U.S. representative from January 1999 until June 2011. He served 9th congressional district in New York. He was born on September 4, 1964. Representing democrats, Anthony took over the seat which was occupied by Charles Schumer before. He managed to win seven terms garnering more than 59% of the vote. In 2005, he failed to win mayoral position of the New York City but again started a mass campaign fund in aid of his 2013 running to be a mayor.

Should Anthony Weiner enter into Politics after the scandal?

In May 2011, Anthony Weiner happened to accidentally tweet a picture of his boxer-clad package that went to about 45,000 followers. This was followed by a revelation of Weiner's online life leading to his family disagreement that almost destroyed his political and marriage life. This has raised a lot of argument whether Anthony Weiner should enter politics after this scandal. However, indeed Anthony Weiner should enter into politics in spite of the scandal, (Danielle Berrin, 2013). His efforts of regretting and asking for a second chance have been clearly seen starting with his explanation of his lubricious carelessness.

Weiner explains the way he gave the idea a little thought until it became late basing his reason that he was in a profession that had him wanting approval of the people. He said that a politician by definition wants people to like him, people to respond to what he is doing, you also may be in need of learning what people want to hear so that you can say it to them. Knowing that time is a great healer, and within the past two years from the time of Weiner's boneheaded bravura, together with his family they have come to grips with his gaffe. It is evidence that Weiner sees a shrink, and has become their 13-month son caregiver and he even with distresses gratitude over forgiveness of her wife.

It can be indeed concluded that there is truth in the lachrymose lament of Weiner. He has described himself in his story as idiot three times. Moreover, the teachings from Judaism confirm that man is inclined towards second chance. Weiner as well ask people to give him a second chance. He yearn to have a conversation with people whom he has let down as well as those who have put their faith in him and those who are in need of supporting him..lo

Weiner seem to convince us that he deserve a chance to once again "teshuva" a Hebrew word meaning return; a return to rectitude, to fidelity, to wholeness and goodness. May be due to his reconciliation with his family may prove edifying within his political life. Moreover, may be error, struggle, as well as salvation may accord him the gift of better leadership.

In summary, just like Weiner stressed in polling revelation on his character. Majority of people are prepared to get over the scandal, however, they are still undecided whether they should vote him. Let us give Weiner another chance and without doubt he may perform and serve people the way it should be.

Is Mayor Bloomberg over stepping his bounds when tries to ban large sodas.

The mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg has come up with a plan of banning large soda and sugary drinks from restaurants as well as other city venues. The proposal of the ban was that it starts on March 12. However, on March 11 the ban was overturned by the State Supreme Court in Manhattan.

This ban was announced last May with the aim of prohibiting restaurants from selling or serving soda in larger containers that are more than 16 ounces, (John Mihovics, 2013). This was to affect the bowling alleys, nightclubs, pizza deliveries as well as its effect was to be realized within local convenient stores.

It is true that Mayor Bloomberg is over stepping his bounds by trying to carry out this unwelcomed news. The State Supreme Court in Manhattan also confirms this when Judge Milton a. Tingling did not agree with the reasons presented before him to support taking of this action. The judge labeled the limits as arbitrary and capricious.

The Mayor whose term is almost done opposes the ruling from the court and says that he is to appeal the decision. He argues that he has to defend his children, and other children, and do whatever is right in order to save lives. This move angered some of the local small businesses as well as seeing the move as stepping ahead of his positional authority.
