"UNCOMMONLY BAD Academic Questions"
Summary
The article Uncommonly Bad Academic Questions was written by Robbins, J in 2013.in this article the author tries to give an explanation of how the common core standards lack the ability to develop students that are either career ready or furthering into college education. This common core standard was designed in order to create an improvement in American schools while at the same time encouraging their goals and enhancing school to work opportunities. Critique
This article clearly explains to the reader the concept of common core standards and elaborately explains the reasons to why it came about. The strength of this article is how clearly the author brings out his points in such a way that any one who is reading the article understands the point he wants to bring out. The weakness of this article is the fact that the author concentrates so much on the negative side of common core standards leaving no room for readers to get a chance of exploring any positives about the topic.
Personal reaction
I personally believe that common core standards are a good design which needs to be used in schools. I differ with the views of the author totally.
Application
This article relates to my experience such that I have had the fruits of common core standards hence I can be able to argue with those who believe that it is not of great benefit.
"Common core as tactical advantage"
Critique
The author was quite elaborate in his article and brings out the topic in an explicit way. He gives a good explanation such that anyone reading the article believes in the benefits of common core standards. Another positive thing about the article is that the author acknowledges that there are some drawbacks of this design but still manages to convince a reader that this is the best and it deserves to be given a chance.one weakness of this article is the failure to give illustrations on the practical aspect of the topic is a weakness in this article.
Personal reaction
I feel that the article is quite elaborate on the advantage of common core standards. The author has made me believe that common core standards do not mean English literature alone but the definitely more than that.
Application
I can use this article to relate in my day-to-day life experiences since I have learnt that common core standards require that we relate what we see in media or read from the literature books and hence act as guide in life.
