The Case of Mark

As a person caring for a child with Asperger Syndrome, someone would have to have a complex understanding of the disorder and would have to be able to play an active role in trying to make the child's life as normal as possible given the circumstances.
There is much controversy regarding the disorder, especially considering how oftentimes individuals in charge of AS persons have a limited understanding of their condition. This leads to them taking on incorrect attitudes -- in many cases mothers are likely to believe that their children are reluctant to cooperate because they were unable to raise them properly. As a consequence, many individuals blame themselves for the fact that Asperger Syndrome persons are unable to integrate the social order.
During a family's first years taking care of a child suffering from Asperger Syndrome, it is very likely that everyone is confused and that people generally have trouble understanding and accepting the condition they are in.
