Communication: Audience Analysis and Online Research

As a human resource coordinator, I will deliver a speech to my coworkers, which means they will be at the same level as me. I do not need to communicate with all of them and know each person by name or closely by nature. However, I would have to remember that their concerns about the new policy remain relevant to mine since they are my colleagues. Creating a relationship with the audience would offer a ‘shared activity’ element and enable an understanding and meaning for the audience (Sprague et al., 2010).

As the number of coworkers is high, it is a large audience that I would be delivering a speech to. Most probably, they would be interested in knowing how the new policy would impact their working conditions in the company and the compensations after the changed work processes impacted by the policy. The message needs to be adapted in a way that would cater to their ‘needs’ rather than citing technical information, which is most conveniently done by building an outline, rapport, and presenting reasoning in logic (Wrench, 2011). Also, why the new policy is necessary and would influence their needs must be clarified.

Information is high-quality and trustworthy in a credible source. When credible sources are used, it means you are using authentic information. I could take the two conflicting studies\\\\\\\' information from our blogs and a reputable national newspaper. I have to be extra careful in opting for the one that is credible as the author’s credibility for a blog, for example, could only be assessed if it is unbiased, the author is an expert, and is published at the latest date (NC State University Libraries, 2015). Besides, the information that does not support introducing a new HR policy is from a reputable newspaper whose credibility could be easily gauged from its name. A prudent citation within my speech would give weightage to what I speak to my coworkers and shape their agreeability on the matter (NJ State Library, 2022).
