Assessing the Quality of a Product: Robinhood

When it comes to an effective trading platform there are a few criteria that one should consider. First off, there should be no commissions for trading—i.e., trading should be free. Second off, the platform should allow for trading cryptocurrencies along with stocks and options—i.e., it should offer a variety of instruments one can trade. Thirdly, the platform should be simple, easy to use, and very intuitive—i.e., it should not be overly complicated to trade on the platform. Fourthly, the platform should come with access to customer service in case a bug does arise or something does go wrong with the platform’s trading application. Fifth, and finally, the platform should have a great app that does not drain one’s phone and is great for trading. Based on these five criteria, Robinhood is a good trading platform because it is free to trade, offers a variety of instruments from stocks to options to cryptocurrencies, it is simple and not complicated to use, it finally now provides access to customer service, and its app is great.

First off, when it comes to online stock trading platforms, Robinhood is a relative newcomer. Founded in 2013, the company has quickly gained a loyal following among investors who appreciate its simple and intuitive interface (“Our Story”). But more importantly, and more to the point, Robinhood has changed the face of trading because from the get-go it offered free trades for all clients—which was simply something unheard of at the time. No other major platform from eTrade to Fidelity offered commission-less trading. Yet never in its life has Robinhood charged for people to buy or sell using its platform. The company simple does not charge commissions for trades, making it an appealing choice for cost-conscious investors. Of course, there are other platforms that now have followed in Robinhood’s suit and also do not charge commissions, but Robinhood was the first and therefore will always carry the mantle as being first to market on no-commission-trading. For that reason, it will reserve a special place in the heart of many retail traders, who appreciate what Robinhood did for the trading platform industry.

Secondly, Robinhood is a good platform for trading because it offers a variety of instruments that one can buy and sell--stocks, options, and cryptocurrencies (“Investing”). This diversity allows traders to make the best possible decisions with respect to their portfolio composition and risk management. When it comes to investing, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. What works for one person may not work for another, and what is right for a particular investor at one point in time may not be the best choice later on. This is why it is so important to have a diversity of products available. Robinhood offers its users a wide range of options, from stocks and ETFs to options and cryptocurrency. This diversity allows traders to make the best possible decisions with respect to their portfolio composition and risk management. With so many choices available, there is sure to be something that meets the needs of every investor. This makes Robinhood an ideal platform for those who are looking to take control of their financial future.

Thirdly, Robinhood is a good platform because it is simple, easy to use, and very intuitive. The platform was basically designed for people who are new to investing, and it walks users through each step of the process. The interface is clean and straightforward, and users can quickly find the information they need. Indeed, in the world of web design, "less is more" is a guiding principle (“Snacks”). The idea is that by stripping away superfluous elements, you can create a more streamlined and efficient design. This philosophy has been adopted by many in the field of user experience design, as it is believed that clean, simple interfaces are easier for users to understand and navigate. In addition, by removing distractions and clutter, you can help users focus on the task at hand. Ultimately, by eschewing bells and whistles in favor of a stripped-down approach, you can create a more user-friendly experience—and this is exactly what Robinhood does and it is exactly why the platform works well for many users.

Fourthly, Robinhood now offers access to customer service—something it did not do starting out, which made it a much worse platform. But now it offers help in the human form (“How to Contact Phone Support”). When Robinhood first began, it was a very basic company, and it was a much worse platform because it did not offer access to customer service. This made it difficult for users to get help when they needed it, and often resulted in frustrated customers. However, Robinhood has since changed its policy and now offers help in the form of human customer service representatives. This has made a world of difference for users, who can now get help when they need it and are no longer left frustrated. Robinhood’s change in policy is a good example of how a company can improve its platform by listening to feedback from its customers. By offering customer service, Robinhood has made itself a more user-friendly platform that is better able to meet the needs of its users. Good customer service has always been important, but it has become even more so in recent years. With the rise of online market places, customers have more options than ever before, and they can easily take their business elsewhere if they are not satisfied. Additionally, social media has given customers a platform to share their experiences with a wide audience. As a result, companies that provide excellent customer service can quickly gain a loyal following, while those that fall short can find themselves struggling to attract new business. In fact, social media grievances were one reason Robinhood finally decided to improve its customer service: many people were griping online about how poor of a job the company was doing in servicing its customers’ needs. Great customer service shows that a company is willing to go the extra mile to ensure its customers are happy, and it can be the difference between a successful business and one that struggle to stay afloat. Robinhood finally figured that out and that is another reason it is now a good platform.

Fifth, and finally, Robinhood has a great app that does not drain one’s phone and makes trading easy when on the go (“Learn”). Not only does it have a great design, but it also does not drain your battery like other apps. This is important for people who are constantly on the go and need to be able to trade quickly and easily. The app also offers a variety of features that make it easy to track your portfolio and monitor the markets. Overall, the Robinhood app is one of the best investment apps available, and it is perfect for people who crave simplicity.
