The Pilot G-2 is a retractable and refillable gel ink pen that features a 0.7 mm fine roller point. Designed for writing on paper, the pen is equipped with dynamic gel ink that is formulated for smooth, smear-proof writing. The pen has a soft, comfortable rubber grip.

The Pilot G-2 offers exceptional value as it holds the longest lasting ink of pens in its class, as rated by an independent ISO testing of the average life of refills of branded gel pens tested. Data for the 2013 product testing is on file with the Pilot Corporation of America.

Refills are available for the pen in a variety of colors, including black, blue, red, orange, lime, green, hunter green, turquoise, navy, purples, pink, burgundy, caramel, teal, and periwinkle. Refills for the Pilot G2 are sold separately by this model code: #77240 Replacing the gel ink refills for the Pilot G-2 is an easy four step process: 1) Unscrew the two parts of the barrel, separating the tope from the bottom; 2) Gripping the projecting refill, pull the shaft of the empty refill out of the barrel and discard, (being careful to retain the spring that goes around the refill when it is in position in the barrel; 3) Place a new gel ink refill in the barrel (and inside the spring which should have stayed in place in the tip-end section of the barrel; and 4) Align the top and bottom sections of the barrel, turn the clicker-end barrel clockwise to tighten the two sections of barrels.

The pen weighs 5 ounces and has a conical type tip. The overall dimensions of the Pilot G2 are:1 x 2.8 x 5.8 inches. The Pilot G-2 gel pen consists of parts: top and bottom sections of the barrel, soft grip, clip mechanism, spring, ink refill, top, and accent rings.

The Pilot G-2 offers several barrel designs and vibrant gel ink colors. The options for barrel designs for the Pilot G-2 include the original translucent barrel, the Fashion Collection, the Breast Cancer Awareness pen, and two business-oriented designs, the G-2 Pro and the G-2 Limited. The original design pen comes in black or blue plastic with a translucent hard plastic barrel, except where the black rubber grip and the retraction button are located.
