¶ … birth of computer technology, there have been diverse developments that were carried out to facilitate the conventional processes of doing things. This is especially true in the business world. One of these developments is the emergence of database applications and tools that replace the need for paper-based information.
The use of database applications presented the business world with diverse advantages. To top this, the widely accepted advantage of database applications is that it facilitate the process of storing and retrieving information, a process that can be handled (before the birth of database applications) in a time-consuming and stressing method.
From such use of database applications and the advantages that it presents, the following section will analyze its role in our organization.
Analysis of Database in our Organization work as an office secretary in a small-medium business company. Being a secretary, my job responsibilities involve a lot of computer utilization to accomplish my needs. Such also involves the use of different database systems where I retrieve and store great number of information required for my job responsibilities. And it is important for me to say, that the different database applications available in our company facilitates almost all of my tasks. Aside from it, they also save me time in terms of researching for information.
One of the most common database applications that I use in our company was developed in Microsoft Access. This is because most of the company internal applications were developed to be simple, user-friendly, and has less risk to incompatibility with other systems and applications. However, for the main business purposes of our organization, we also have applications that are used by both the company and clients that were developed in large-scale-capable applications such as Microsoft SQL Server.
The use of database applications in our organization presents a number of advantages. Such advantages, although can also be seen in other organizations, play significant roles in our company's success in business transactions with clients and customers. For instance, one application in which the role of a database is very significant and important is the e-commerce system of our company. Our e-commerce online ordering system utilizes SQL Server as the backend database of different information of both our company's customers as well as the products and services that we offer. Without the SQL Server, or any other types of database tools, which is very ideal for large-scale applications, the e-commerce system that provides great benefits to our operation will not be possible.
The use of database in our organization has already played a large part in each and every activity in our company. As with any other company who eliminated the use paper as the source of information, I can say that our entire company has been 80% dependent on the capabilities of database applications. From the process of getting information of customers and clients, offering our products and services, delivering the customers' needs, and recording every information in every process of our business activities, the company relies on the use of computer applications that utilizes database tools. In fact, in just my job responsibilities alone, the use of database applications comprises 80% of my tasks' needs. Moreover, in the area of selling our products and services, the database applications that our company has made available online plays 75% in successful business transactions with customers.
There are a number of researches and studies that have proven the advantages of using database applications within a workplace. If one is to analyze, the reality that database tools are indispensable in any business these days. Today, it is perhaps impossible to see a company that doesn't make use of database applications. Even in industries that don't focus on the technology-related business, database tools are similarly utilized. This is because information is always a part of any business.
