Nurse A is assigned to Mr. Jones and is tasked with ensuring that the patient is protected at all times. The patient cannot do certain things that will assure him a protected and assured health process. The nurse provides every necessary help and support so that Mr. Jones can recover as expected. Presently, the nurse has been doing well on the shift. Additionally, the nurse should ensure that the patient has received equitable medical service. In the case presented, the nurse is doing well since he is at the touching distance between him and the patient. The nurse should offer an immediate observation on the health situation of the patient throughout the nursing process, which is throughout the night shift. The nurse has the duty to ascertain the feelings and changes within the patient to be accurate on what is happening and what is likely to happen in the course of the patient recovering or using the standard and provided medical attention (Young & Williams, 2011).
When the physician is away, the nurse offers immediate feedback regarding the patient's progress and other challenges that might have occurred in their absence. In the case presented, the nurse does well at first to call the doctor to report the immediate changes over the patient. Nonetheless, the nurse fails when he does not call the doctor for the second time. The nurse does not have to let anything come between him and the medical service offered to the patient. In any case, the nurse is responsible for anything that comes in the way of the patient with or without the absence of the medical doctor assigned to Mr. Jones. Overall, the nurse should give the patient a suitable environment guaranteeing recovery to optimal health standards. Even as the patient is being rushed to the medical bay for the second surgery, the nurse should be recording all the events including the drugs administered, their response, or any emergency procedures.
The nurse breaches the duty on several grounds. He has been assigned to protect the interests of the patient Mr. Jones. He has nothing else other than doing a follow-up towards what is happening to the patient at hand. When the patient shows some changes, the nurse should be present and record the changes where possible. The nurse fails to inform the doctor Mr. Grumpy on the medical occurrences of the patient at night. Even with the unresponsiveness of the doctor, it is the responsibility of the nurse to ensure that the patient is given the necessary support for the recovery to be successful (Young & Williams, 2011). The nurse has a duty to observe towards ensuring that he has let the patent acquire or get what he needs. The nurse fails when he chooses to "watch" the changes in the patient without reporting them immediately to the doctor. Moreover, the nurse breaches duty when he fails to note the internal bleeding that leads to the second suffering of the patient at hand.
The initial surgery of Mr. Jones has been successful. It is obvious that it has taken his financial and emotional strength for he has suffered because of this. Nurse A is assigned the responsibility of taking care of the patient Mr. Jones. This comes with the financial responsibility as an obligation to Mr. Jones. The nurse is responsible for leading the patient to the second moment of surgery. Mr. Jones becomes ill of internal bleeding having signified the nurse of the possible changes and impulses, all of which come in vain. The patient should be taken for the second surgery to rectify the internal bleeding. For the next one and half years, Mr. Jones has to be careful of the process of nursing the effects of the second surgery. He has committed many finances in this process, which apparently has been lengthened because of the nurse and doctor's negligence (Wilkinson, 2016).
On emotional injury, the person who suffers the most here is the patient Mr. Jones. Mr. Jones is emotionally injured when nurse A abandons him to suffer the impulses and changes instead of reporting them to the doctor for an immediate action. He is already in emotional pain having to be sick and having to cater for everything in this situation. It is not any good for the nurse to let the patient suffer inherently yet something can be done. Emotionally, Mr. Jones should be ready to suffer the consequences of the second surgery. He should know the limits to recovery and be ready to accept the situation. It is emotionally disturbing for him to suffer such as he has nothing else to sustain him other than suffer the emotional injury until he gets well (Wilkinson, 2016).
