The world we live in has changed dramatically in the last decades and this is not necessarily in the positive way. The values, norms, and principles of the society have drifted from the traditional means of education and have enabled children and young adults to behave differently then children used to do in the mid 50s for instance. The dramatic changes have taken place as a result of the modernization of the society, of the increased development of technology, which defines today's reality at every pace. The children from today have the most to profit and gain, but, at the same time, if not taken into account, their future can take turns that may not be benefic for their development. For this reason, the educational segment is extremely important and vital for the way in which children develop in their early stages.

There have been numerous strategies through which children can improve their early path in life and through which educators can make the learning experience appealing and at the same time useful for their future. It is common knowledge that most children are, in their early stages, rather reluctant to being into a controlled environment such as a kindergarten or prep years in school. However, with the right approaches, this experience can become a pleasant one and can ensure that evolution has brought about positive change in the education of small children.

A good example in terms of a 21st century school would be one which would use the benefits of technology, of the research that has been conducted in the last decades in the area of education and provide added value to the educational system. It is important to consider that children are rather different than the generations in the 50s particularly because they have a much larger access to information, to stimuli that can detract their attention from learning or from discovering themselves. Today, children have the Internet, a source of unlimited information but at the same time of temptations that can prevent them from reading a novel and rather watching the film, which deals with the subject of that novel, to give just an example. Also, small children would rather play with standard toys than to discover in their own pace different other activities that would ensure the functioning of more parts of the brain than playing with dolls.

Taking this into account, a 21st century school would be based on the Waldorf example particularly because that kind of educational system challenges the child without him or her realizing (http://www.sonoma.edu/users/f/filp/libs_200/waldorf.pdf ). The methods of education take into account a special and private interaction with different kinds of games that challenge the imagination of the child and create a specific interest for the child to interact. In this sense, games which determine the child to recognize different shapes and forms, to learn to count by allowing the child to differentiate between object not only keep the interest of the child alert but also develop special skills in the child which are, at an early stage, not visible but which make the child develop more harmoniously.

A 21st century school would also take into account the development of the caring side of the child, would include the interaction of the child with different types of backgrounds, in a controlled manner and in a way that would make the child learn different types of behavior from early stages in life (http://www.parkerschool.org/programs/culture / ). This would develop a caring side of the child and would plant the seed of tolerance through knowledge and interaction. At the same time though, the child needs to come in contact with this entire array of different cultures, perspectives from an early stage because the reality in the society today is that we are all a mix of individual and tolerance is something that needs to be learned from infancy.
