Bush & Clinton Leadership Styles Term Paper

Gore was seen as a very open vice president whose work achieved very high visibility; Cheney works behind the scenes, and is believed to be very influential in the Bush administration in matters of fighting terrorism and war strategy in Iraq. Bush is very much aware of one of his main political constituencies, the conservative Christian movement; this movement is anti-abortion and very negative about gay people. In fact, Bush has supported a constitutional amendment (which makes his conservative Christian supporters happy) that would ban gay marriage. Clinton, meanwhile, reached out to the gay community and initiated the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy toward gays in the military. Many gays were being pushed out of the military based on old suspicions and values.

Clinton was involved in an embarrassing scandal when it was learned he had been having sexual relations (of some form) with an intern. The resulting media coverage and attacks by Republicans led to Clinton's impeachment in the House of Representatives, though he was not removed from office by the U.S. administration has been caught in numerous scandals in the past few years: it was revealed his education department paid a journalist over a hundred thousand dollars to write positive articles about No Child Left Behind; the reasons Bush gave for the war in Iraq, it turns out, were partly false (there were no weapons of mass destruction); the brutal treatment of Iraqi prisoners in Baghdad was the responsibility of the Bush leadership team; the secret spying on phone customers by Bush's team also caused quite a reaction in the media.
Clinton vigorously approved any and all methods to stop the global warming problem, with Al Gore the lead speaking for the Clinton team; Bush has fought every attempt to get the government to approach solutions for global warming, in sharp contrast to Clinton.
