¶ … Title One is a state funded program that helps school aged children with literacy skills. This program benefits many children from low income families who need extra help with reading, but cannot afford the extra help. As a result, schools overall are able to score higher on standardized testing. One of the main drawbacks of a title one program is the availability of funds. America is in a recession right now and many people are losing their jobs. Therefore, more and more children are now depending on title one programs to help them achieve higher reading skills. However, many states do not have enough money to pay for the program, so some children are not able to get the title one services.
How do the benefits of no child left behind compare to the drawbacks? No Child Left Behind is an educational reform started by President George Bush. It states that all children will have equal rights to a quality education, regardless of race, gender, and economic status. However, when there is not enough state money to help fund programs such as title one, then the drawback of this educational reform outweigh its benefits. The benefits of No Child Left Behind is that it does work in providing a high quality education for all children. However, lack of money causes the program to fail because not all children will have an equal opportunity to education.
3. What can teachers do to protect themselves from the possibility of lawsuits? Teachers can protect themselves from the possibility of lawsuits by being educated. The more information they know about educational reform and educational issues, the more likely they are to abide by the laws and policies and the less likely they are to have problems in the court system. They should always have everything in writing and approved and backed by the school administration. Therefore, if problems do arise, the teacher will not have to face it alone as he/she will be backed by the school administration.
