¶ … Business As the course closes, the time has come for self-reflection and course evaluation. The following reflection contains self-examination as a student within the course as well as reflections upon how the course contributes to the student's education and career. The paper describes which modules were the most useful, difficult, and easy for the student. The paper describes an appreciation for the topic of Organizational Studies and realizes the practicality for students in many fields to be exposed to this subject.

Reflections upon the Course Conclusion This course has helped me come upon several important realizations regarding scholarship, research, teaching & learning, and obviously, realizations regarding organizational studies. I realize that Organizational Studies is not a subject that should be limited to business related degree programs. Organizational Studies is a topic to which students across a large spectrum of disciplines should be exposed.

There is an increase of attention, research, and scholarship regarding how spatial relationships among humans, objects, and settings affect numerous occurrences such as attention, productivity, mood, social interaction, efficiency and much more. Therefore, Organizational Studies has a place in more than just the business arena. It definitely has a place in Education and Healthcare. It has a place within organizations predicated on intense levels collaboration such as production/design/art studios, non-profit organizations, athletics, hospitality, and many other industries.

I wish I had been exposed to a course in Organizational Studies in high school. It would have better prepared me for adolescence, undergraduate matriculation, and the workforce. I already considered myself an above average researcher insofar as my ability to locate quality resources to think about, write about, and support my own ideas.

This course pushed me to find quality sources directly related to provided articles or articled I located, but also the course pushed me to locate articles that composed the context within which to think about and write about said articles. The course asked me to locate sources that were within the existing context of provided ideas and to locate sources that consist of a greater context as well. The course developed my skills in identifying research questions and hypotheses.

The course furthermore pushed me to analyze existing research questions and hypotheses and create new yet related research questions and hypotheses. That experience was a valuable challenge. I had to create research questions and hypotheses that were original but yet clearly related to the research questions and hypotheses of the authors about which I read. This experience helped me participate in the context of established ideas.

Though my work is not yet published in this area, those modules made me feel as a participant in the research community of that topic. I could have sought further explication of the professor's feedback upon my work in a better fashion or more often. Improvements are difficult to make when feedback is unclear and non-specific. I should have made a stronger effort to clarify the professor's commentary on graded work so as to demonstrate the desired improvements in a more timely fashion.

I do acknowledge that gradual and well-rounded developments were made in the assignments over the duration of the course. My desire to succeed and understand served me well in this course. In the future, I may evaluate my success based on the commentary of my peers as well as by using heuristics periodically during all the stages of my research. I would also gauge my success by how many others research in the same fields or areas as I do.

It is less important to me if other researchers agree with me or not, and more important that there is a community of researchers shedding light upon and generating a context for a specific area that is of particular or personal interest to me. Additionally, my studies in Media Theory, Psychology, Sociology, Cultural Studies, and the Philosophy of Technology served me well in this course.

Thus, another way in which I would gauge my success in the future in this area is how relevant my research topic is in relation to other disciplines as well as the degree to which my research could benefit from an interdisciplinary approach or perspective, as suggested by multiple heuristics. Another valuable aspect of the course for me was the modules spent on working with variables. As I prepare my dissertation ideas, proposal, bibliography, and research, knowledge of variables becomes increasingly critical.

Therefore, I appreciated the challenge of distinguishing and generating variables in the modules. I learned about the influence of variables upon research questions and hypotheses, too. Variables are terms.
