Candidate The Movie The Candidate Movie Review

McKay is using his name to create an initial following. However, as he becomes more popular, is when people begin to question why his father has not endorsed him. After the debate, the press ignores the fact that McKay did not follow the agreed upon format. Instead, they are concentrating on how the former Governor has appeared to endorse his son. When in reality, he is only there to congratulate him. ("The Candidate") The incumbency effect occurs throughout the film with Jamon having a clear advantage over the other candidate. This leads to many individuals refusing to run against him based upon the belief they will not win. These factors encourage McKay to run. As he can say what he wants and it will not have an effect on the race. ("The Candidate")

Do you see any similarities between the senate race in the film...

This is occurring with Andrew Cuomo (the son of the former Governor Mario Cuomo) running against Carl Paladino. During the election, a poll was taken by Gallop of potential voters. They found that 58% believed no party is addressing the real issues. This is paralleling the movie by showing how both sides have pre-scripted answers. At the same time, the son of the former Governor running is very similar to the events in the film. ("The Candidate") (Wiessner)

Film Analysis: V For Vendetta
Words: 1540 Length: 5 Document Type: Term Paper

V's plot and characters represent a diversity in the population of the cast, but perhaps pays a tribute to queer cinema in that it acknowledges the rights of gays and lesbians, and acknowledges, too, that when a government seeks to oppress society, it targets those weakest; the minorities, the disenfranchised (which transcends race), and the creative element within that society. The film ends with Evey giving a somewhat melodramatic speech

Another Website ("Historical Inaccuracies in Film") points out the same thing, that the final battle scene with Lt. Col. In fact the 7th Air Cavalry division was given an airlift out of the area and the next day a
