Bj\'s Wholesale Club Sells Everything,

Last reviewed: December 14, 2004 ~2 min read

BJ's Wholesale Club sells everything, from appliances to furniture to food, and offers their products at prices affordable to most consumers. As such, BJ's Wholesale Club appeals to a wide demographic and its stores could be viably located in almost any American suburban area. Currently, there are no BJ's Wholesale Clubs in the state of Washington. This deserves to change: Northwestern Washington in particular would be an optimal location for a new branch of BJ's.

Specifically, the town of Bellingham, Washington would prove to be a suitable location for a BJ's Wholesale Club for several reasons. Bellingham is a reasonable distance from downtown Seattle, already enjoys popularity as an outlet mall shopping district, and it has reasonable proximity to the Canadian border. One of BJ's major competitors, Costco, already has a warehouse location in Bellingham, and BJ's is potentially losing money by not breaking into this ripe market. Furthermore, the presence and success of the Costco in Bellingham proves that the local population would enthusiastically support a BJ's Wholesale Club, especially if the store is strategically located.

The proposed location for a new BJ's would ideally be situated some distance from the Costco, in order to lure customers that find the Costco out of their way. BJ's Wholesale can therefore take advantage of an already existing market demographic: consumers who already make their purchases at wholesale clubs and who are used to our method of shopping.
