In such a setting then, the skills for manual labor of the individuals became less important and more and more emphasis came to be placed on the intellectual features of the employees.

In other words, the current demand for labor force is centered on knowledge individuals, who possess higher degrees of education and expertise in their field of operations. Employers seek individuals who have the ability to add more value to the organization and to help it better attain its pre-established objectives. At the level of management, emphasis is placed on the management of talent through strategies for hiring, retention and development. In this dynamic labor market, a question is being posed relative to the future of labor demand.

At this stage, it is expected for the current trend to be maintained and the demand for labor force to evolve in the sense of decrease for manual labor and an increase for intellectual and knowledge labor. This trend would be explained by the fact that the economic growth and productivity increase of the recent century have been based on mechanization and technologization.
