¶ … Cheating The concept of cheating relates to virtually any situation where an individual or entity (i.e. A business or professional enterprise) deliberately violates established rules or limitations meant to apply to behavior. The issue can arise in the context of family relations, matters of professional careers, or within interpersonal relationships. Generally, cheating is purposeful conduct that is intended to achieve or acquire anything that is more difficult (or impossible) to achieve or acquire without violating the established rules or the fair expectations of others.

Within the context of family relations, cheating can arise in connection with children disobeying family rules or failing to carry out obligations to which they agreed or that others have the right to expect. Cheating can also arise within families in connection with misusing possessions or funds that are set aside, furnished, or otherwise provided for specific purposes in violation of agreements or reasonable expectations.

Within professional business, cheating can arise in connection with deceptive business practices or unlawful practices that are intended to increase revenue from customers, to compete unfairly with other businesses, or to deprive governmental authorities of duly authorized revenue (i.e. taxes). Finally, within interpersonal relationships, cheating can arise in connection with violating any mutually agreed upon rules or commitments. Some of the most common examples of cheating within interpersonal relationships have to do with the sexual fidelity that is usually expected by those sharing emotionally intimate sexual relationships.

Kidney Donation Issues The two articles outline the strengths of the moral argument supporting the voluntary sale of organs for transplant. On one hand, it is understandable why that concept would provoke moral concern; on the other hand, both authors make the point that the argument against the proposition relies very heavily on issues capable of being resolved without necessarily banning the sale of organs.

Specifically, the strongest argument against the legalization of the sale of organs from living donors is that it would lead to the exploitation of the poor by the wealthy. While that is a valid ethical concern, the prospect of legal organ sales must be evaluated realistically rather than necessarily in conjunction by the worst-case scenario. Certainly, it would be ethically unjust to allow unrestricted sales and brokering in organ sales. However, it is logically unfair to assume that legalization would be entirely unrestricted and uncontrolled by governmental and medical authorities.

Instead, the concept must be evaluated in conjunction with the types of restrictions that currently apply to other potentially harmful industries and human activities. Inherently dangerous activities are highly regulated and essential industries controlled so that unfair practices are strictly prohibited. The exact same would be true of legalized organ sales. The other principal objection relates to the fact that the poor would have much greater incentive to sell their organs while the rich would benefit more from the plan.

This objection also must compare other areas of modern life where that is (already) no less true. Coal miners, loggers, and deep sea fishing are all exceptionally dangerous occupations normally held by those who have few other vocational opportunities and their labor provides power, lumbar, and food for those who are wealthier.
