The preschool period is generally considered to be three to five years of age (4). I observed a five-year-old female playing at a playground. The tasks witnessed were running, playing on a slide, ascending stairs, and climbing on a jungle gym (a circular interlocked metal object with a ladder). Play was performed in the presence of her mother and older brother. The preschooler is a very social individual who is making friends and exploring the world (4).
This child had a tendency to mimic the actions of her older, seven-year-old brother. He made a point of showing his sister when he walked up the slide rather than sliding down it. Repition is a coping behavior and helps children learn (2). She was so amused by her brother that she started to copy the action and, when mastered, called to her mother to...
The child was proud once she was able to accomplish the task and looked for parental praise. In the psychosocial aspect in the six to eleven-year-old age, industry, or being permitted to make and do things and being praised for accomplishments is something that is exhibited when she looks for approval of her brother and her mother on her activities (5). The conforming behavior of following the lead of her brother is consistent with a five-year-old (5). There was constant communication with her brother.
The two children interacted not only on the slide, but also through different areas of the playground. Motor skills are important in social interactions (4). The brother and sister team would go down the slide like a train, connected to one another, and kept each other within
Skateboard park, urban center Date and time of your observations: Saturday, 4PM Why you chose the setting: The setting is close by, but it still offers insight into a subset of youth culture in the city. I have never paid attention to the anthropological and sociological dynamics of a skateboard subculture. I am interested in finding out any patterns or new information. Description of the setting: The skateboard park is about the
Indeed, during my second observation, which would occur during peak commuter hours, between 7:30 and 8:30 AM on a Thursday, I would see this process repeated 7 times. Trains would run more frequently and crowds would be thicker during this time. Where I estimated roughly 40 people at the most at any one time during my preliminary observation, the same station contained what I estimated to be 400 to
There seemed to be a certain class-based attitude in their behavior, as if they were asserting their right to be in the park, over the largely more affluent playground-goers by using their dog. The children in the playground were all attended by mothers. The mothers did not seem to know each other well, perhaps because the children were all of different ages. Some of the mothers just watched their children

Problem Statement and Research Questions Problem Statement To a large extent, the relevance of a problem statement cannot be overstated when it comes to efforts to clearly capture the issue under consideration. Towards this end, I will be seeking to offer a concise and clear description of the primary concern, i.e. the educational attainment of teen mothers and why it warrants attention. Thus, in this case, I will not only put the
components of field research are observations and interviews. Ideally, observations should take place in the natural setting or environment of the subjects that are being observed. Observations are key not only in field research, but also in life. Observing is a greater challenge than most people may think. Even though, to a certain extent, all people are observers, observation for the sake of field research takes training and research.
