Classroom Performance System (CPS IR)
What is the educational need for this technology?
This type of technology would allow students in all manner of settings including mobile or wireless students taking part in education from abroad to come together in a single "classroom environment" to offer their opinions and objections to the material and propositions offered in the classroom. Students would have much more information to consider when reviewing classroom material because input would be received from a much more diverse population. This type of system would also introduce the students of the classroom to a more advanced technology.
How often will this technology be used in your classroom?
The technology will be used to allow individual students to respond to questions in class using objective and subjective material. The teacher could combine the answers to the questions asked into a single block of information that he or she would then disseminate to all students. This type of assignment could also allow the teacher to grade answers more objectively, because students could have the opportunity to use a unique identifier other than their name to identify their contribution. Also, students would have the opportunity to critique other students in the classroom more objectively using the same principle.
Question # 3.
In what subject areas will you use this technology? Please describe how it will be utilized for each of the different subjects listed?
I would use this system for the reading and writing subject areas, because students will be reviewing large volumes of information and would have an opportunity to provide their own reviews of literary works particularly those of fiction or prose. In most reading and writing classrooms, the point of discourse is to gather multiple views on why something is or is not a certain way. There often is no one right or wrong answer when analyzing poetry or abstract art and pieces of literature. In this type of setting, the more information that the teacher and the students have to review, the better off everyone in the classroom is.
This technology would also be useful for exploring history and anthropology and sociology classes, because students from around the world would have an opportunity to provide their opinions and ideas about culture, sociology and the world in which we live. Students would have an opportunity to provide information that detailed how technology and modernization have affected their culture and their way of life. These are all important considerations in modern society.
Question # 4.
Would you be willing to share this technology with another classroom near your room?
Yes. It would be easy to share this technology with other classrooms. In fact, the units could be assigned to a classroom rather than to an individual so that all students had an opportunity to participate with and interact with each other using this unique and informative technology.
Question # 5.
Will this technology decrease your need to photocopy materials? If yes, please explain.
If the technology saved information it would decrease the need to photocopy materials because students would have an opportunity to review the conversation on a subject from start to finish. The student could then take their own notes of the material; writing down what they feel is most pertinent.
