Summary of strengths:
To begin with, it would be prudent to note that I can compete independently in as far as the full-range comprehensive psychiatric evaluation skills are concerned. More specifically, I am confident of my skills and capabilities in not only psychiatric illness assessment, but also interpretation of interval/comprehensive history as well as physical examination. Amongst other things, I have also acquired the relevant skills in functional assessment performance and interpretation. In addition to the psychiatric evaluation skills highlighted above, I am also confident of my abilities in relation to diagnostic reasoning. On this front, I can comfortably come up with proper diagnosis on the basis of assessment data – and in line with the DSM 5. Over time, I have also further developed my capabilities in both the development and prioritization of differential diagnoses. One other strength that I possess, and which ought not to go unmentioned, relates to a specific set of professional skills and capabilities. This is more so the case when it comes to the nurturing of therapeutic relationships with clients and maintenance of professional boundaries. I also fully embrace the relevance of multidisciplinary collaboration. This is more so the case when it comes to the further advancement of professional capabilities and betterment of outcomes in clinical settings.
Opportunities for growth:
In as far as opportunities for growth are concerned, I have established that there are a number of skills that I ought to develop or further refine so as to fully attain the required practicum skills. One such opportunity for growth relates to certain pharmacotherapeutic skills. This is more so the case when it comes to the selection of the relevant evidence-based medication plan clinical practice guidelines, where I would require supervision. The situation is similar with regard to some aspects of psychotherapeutic treatment planning – specifically the selection of the relevant evidence-based psychotherapeutic plan clinical practice guidelines. It is also important to note that when it comes to self-assessment, there are clear indications of the need to make deliberate moves to improve so as to fully develop the needed practicum skills. Further, I would require some form of supervision in the selection and implementation of the various screening instruments, the interpretation of results, as well as deriving of meaningful recommendations.
