CSR What Are The Different Layers/Dimensions Of Essay

CSR What are the different layers/dimensions of corporate social responsibility?

Evaluate your organization's current CSR strategy.

Discuss your suggested improvements to your organization strategy. What beliefs and social values are driving them.

What would be the consequences of your suggested CSR strategy on business strategy and on society at large?

Corporate social responsibility (CSR), as Mrs. Gentile remarks, has to be closely linked to the organization to be work well, to please the stakeholder, and to be a not one-off effort. Only in this way, does it become true philanthropy since it is congruent with the organization's goals.

In order to assess whether my organization coheres to this standard, I would first need to explore the concept of CSR and then investigate ways that my organization does / does not meet its tenets.

Corporate social responsibility, in short, is the manner in which the business goes beyond itself to care, not only for its own concerns, but also for the concerns of the wider environment / society in which it is living. In this way, the business is not 'curled up' within its own ego-centric, greedy way but gives of itself to others (Tutor2U). There are many who argue that adopting a CSR mentality is pragmatic and useful to the business since it gives the business a humanitarian reputation and makes the business better-liked. The business also gains greater publicity by having a positive impact on society and by distributing its influence in a positive, ethical manner. Acting beyond regulatory dictates, being a good citizen, and putting shareholder satisfaction ahead of one's own also proves more utilitarian in that the business not only curries favor with government, but also gains a positive reputation amongst the citizens, and retains the ear of its shareholders (as well as attracting others). In this way, CSR is an advantageous strategy to company as well as to environment.

Integrating economic, environmental and social aspects into all business decisions

Achieving sound environmental performance by minimizing the impacts of our activities

Seeking better ways to manage natural resources, use less energy and reduce emissions

Complying with applicable national and international environmental legislation and subscribing to best management, technology and environmental procedures and standards (http://www.qp.com.qa/en/homepage/qpactivities/qpoperations/environmentandsociety/10-1665770607.aspx).

Amongst the many CSR programs that we pursue are the following: school and community environmental awareness and education, environmental workshops, tree planting, marine debris removal, and conservation programs that protect valuable natural resources such as mangroves, marine turtles, Reem gazelles, houbara bustards and ostriches.

A further perusal of the activities of QP shows that the Company meets CSR in a peak manner.

Let's take medicine for instance. QP is involved in a huge array of medical concerns, pediatrics being simply one of them. Descriptions of events described in the "Media Center" notes that:

QP was the main sponsor of the 1st Qatar International Pediatric Surgery Congress, which took place on February 17-19 at the Qatar National Convention Center. Organized by the Pediatric Surgery Department of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the event was held alongside the 12th Congress of the…
