Dangers and Advantages

Explain the dangers and advantages of the American population adopting a multicultural perspective.

The possible dangers that will occur from America adopting multi-cultural perspectives are that basic traditions and beliefs will be lost. This is because other nationalities and ethnicities are embracing their own cultural traditions. For example, these changes are occuring when there is a transformation in what specific values and morals are embraced. This is the point that society will become corrupted and will abandon many of the ideas that made America great. Over the course of time, this will result in the U.S. becoming less dominant on the world stage by not practicing these attributes. (Santorum, 2012)

The advantages of adopting a multi-cultural perspective are that America will become more of a melting pot. Throughout U.S. history, the nation has always been a place that is welcoming of: different people, traditions and ideas. This has allowed the country to become more competitive by using these attributes to help change and adapt with new challenges. One of the ways that this is occurring is from the contributions of having a multi-cultural perspective. ("Multi Cultureless in America," 2012)

Explore how this will affect the characteristics of social groups, organizations, social stratification and the current class system in the United States.

This will create changes in the way different social groups and organizations are interacting with each other. as, these ideas; will increase the overall amounts of understanding and communication during the process. This is the point that there will be a transformation in views about the different social groups and organizations. ("Multi Culturalism in America," 2012)

Over the course of time, this will create a change in the levels of satisfaction by: taking the beliefs and traditions of everyone into account (versus a select segment). When this happens, the total amounts of social satisfaction will improve. Moreover, the U.S. will be able to reduce the number of people that are living in the lower economic classes by understanding these viewpoints. How would deviance be defined in America through a multicultural perspective?

Deviance would be defined as those groups that are unwilling to embrace different American cultural traditions (over several generations). This is because select nationalities could be focused on embracing their cultural practices and are not learning those of their new country. What would make the situation worse is when future generations do not accept American attributes with their own traditions. ("Multi Culturalism in America," 2012)

For example, a family from another country will automatically practice certain traditions when they first arrive in America. In the event that their children and grandchildren do not embrace some American attributes, is when a deviance is established. This is because there is a clear pattern of the family not accepting these traditions after several generations. ("Multi Culturalism in America," 2012)
