¶ … dedicated to providing patients with dementia with a more specialized quality level of care at end of life. As nurse activist, I can disseminate my findings in various ways. These include some of the following journal -- I can choose journals that have various approaches. Some of these implications may be methodological implications, nursing practice implications, or health care consumer implications.

I can also publish in a variety of journals such as consumer education materials aside form academic empirical journals I can draw on clinical application, or I can use a different slant and connect to philosophical association. Association -- I can present as a research poster or go in for awards presenting my paper as a competition. conventions -- to show a poster at a conference meetings -- I can inform people at th e region where the study opcured.

This can be done at a local, regional, national, or international conference or meetings RCN Steinberg Collection of Nursing Research - the RCN Steinberg Collection contains influential nursing these and dissertations collected from the 1950s. It h as over 1,000 nursing theses and dissertations, and my theses can be polished and presented there. I can also disseminate my findings per radio.

Other ways that I can disseminate my findings may b e to volunteer to give talks in nursing schools and in hospices as well as in all organizations that deal with patients who have dementia. It may be too that local social work institutions may be interested in publicizing my talks since many families are occupied in dealing with relatives w ho have dementia. My findings can help them too.

Other ways in which I can disseminate my findings may be via newsletters, presentations and general coffee breakfast meetings held for charity. I can also approach local senators using my findings to push change. The important thing is that with each method used, I need to know the audience: if they are laypersons, statisticians, methodologists, nurses, or newspaper reporters since the content needs to be structured accordingly.

I also need to know the length of time that I have scheduled to speak since professional research conventions usually allocate 10 minutes to 90 minutes for a presentation. If only a short time, I may be advised to present highlights and to give handouts of my presentation. Visual images also facilitate the learning. I will need to build in time for question and discussions. With each audience, I should consider their specific interests and structure the speech accordingly.

With non-health laypeople, for instance, I can structure it to the challenges of dealing with relations with dementia and the kind of characteristics they should look for in caregivers as well s ways that can give them less stress and give their patients more comfort in dealing with them. I should also present it in a creative way in order to make it more interesting.

When approaching journals (and there are a plethora of nursing journals potentially interested in my research), I would be advised to carefully study requirements and, if unsure, to query my solicitation describing topic area and study in order to determine whether this is a good match.
