¶ … Aristotle, Metaphysica.

"Synergy: the interaction or cooperation of two or more organization, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects."

New Oxford Dictionary of English

Even from just the presentation of their definitions, one can begin to sense the connection between being more than the sum of parts to synergy. My design point-of-view comes from a place where these quotations collide and are illustrated in the real world.

Both of my parents were missionaries. Very early on in life, my parents set an example for me follow and I have tried to do so in my life. They taught me that even one person's efforts can effect the lives of others. I have also learned that small efforts can have big effects. I have kept the lesson to be of service to others into my adult life, as evidenced by my assistance in building schools in countries such as the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Furthermore, I have be of service in Indonesia, providing books, supplies, and lab equipment to children in Komodo.

My background is in Electricity. I have worked professionally with electricity as well as provided instruction to others in this area. My concentration is in Construction Electricity. This experience extends for sixteen years. Some of my primary functions in the field included facilitation and management of large scale electrical projects and system installations. Even without expertise in electricity, with the quotes in mind, one can sense how I came to my design point-of-view through my work experience. In order for these systems I managed to be effective, there needed to be some synergy. When synergy at work is present, the whole is greater than the sum of the elements that participated in the collaborative effort. Effective design stems from synergy; I see synergy and facilitate synergy when I work, making the finished project greater than the sum of the parts that united together to make the system work. It is with these skills, this experience, and this design point-of-view, that I turn my sights to a dynamic career as an Information Technology Technician.

My masters degree is in Information and Technology Management; thus, this is not the most dramatic of career shifts for me. While I enjoyed the value of my experience in Construction Electricity, at this point in my life and career, I seek new opportunities, new directions, and fresh sets of challenges. Outside of my career and studies, I am a scuba diver. The sea inspires me and motivates me to keep shores and reefs clean.
