Technology today is an undeniable fact of life. Increasingly, teachers and students alike are realizing the potential of the many new tools available to acquire new skills in new ways. Technology offers new ways to not only learn these new skills, but also to do so in a more collaborative way. Kids who were previously excluded from the main education system because of a set of perceived "special needs" can now participate with their peers on a collaborative and creative platform.

Kids n Clicks is a program that offers primary school children the opportunity to use a visual technology as a tool of empowerment, confidence, self-esteem and hope. By collaborating to use digital photography as a creative medium, kids will not only learn a new set of academic and technological skills, but also interpersonal techniques that will lead to social skills that are vital to become effective and fully functioning adults.

When completing the course, kids who participated in the Kids n Clicks program will:

Be able to express their unique personal creativity by means of digital images;

Learn editing skills using modern digital technology;

Create digital and print presentations from a combination of the photos they took.

Objective:

To help schools develop and implement the Kids n Clicks program for the benefit of students in terms of technology skills, academic skills, and potential future business and professional skills. Kids will also benefit in terms of developing their inherently creative talents and combine these with their learning and professional skills. By involving all children, kids learn the value of team work and to be tolerant and open to the ideas of others, even if these do not always agree. This is a valuable social and interpersonal skill, which will help kids to grow into effective and cooperative adults.
