Holiday traveling can be a stressful activity for any family, even while the ideal is to enjoy some time away from work in the closeness of the family bond. Stress is especially a danger if several destinations are in question for a single holiday period. When the traveling family is additionally burdened with issues such as learning disability. As an agent for a large travel company, my work entails relieving the stress of such a holiday to a sufficient degree so that the traveling family can enjoy their experience as much as possible. For a family with a collective learning disability problem, there are some particular challenges involved in my work.

My first task is then to investigate the particular disorder so that I can be familiar with the particular needs of the family. I will also need to communicate with the family about the problem as I see it, and the needs that I project for their journey. They can then also provide me with valuable input regarding their everyday life experiences to complete my assessment of their needs. This assessment will then help me to provide them with the assistance they need to not only complete their journey successfully, but also to enjoy their holiday and the activities in which they'll participate.

Learning disability often entails difficulty in interpreting visual, auditory, or reading material, or connecting information from different parts of the brain. This presents particular challenges with regard to travel information, especially as it relates to flight and transfer information, accommodation, and specific activities that are planned for each location.

As with my other clients, I will provide the family with brochures and other material detailing the particulars of their journey. I will also carefully discuss the material with the family and ensure that they understand every aspect of the journey. I do not believe however that this will be enough to minimize any stress that they may experience. And indeed, stress could exacerbate their disorder to the extent that any time they could otherwise have spent on enjoying the holiday might be involved in worrying about connections, flights and accommodations. To meet their needs in this regard, I'll provide them with a liaison during every part of their journey. I will for example ensure that a particular flight attendant on every flight will meet them and help the family find the correct connection for their continuing journey. In the case of their arrival, I will ensure that an airport official will meet them at the airport and ensure their safe arrival at their accommodation. I will do the same in the case of hotels and specific activities. During each leg of the journey, I will ensure a guide to help the family arrive safely, enjoy their activities, and return at the correct times for everything they planned. During the journey, it is also possible that my clients will be in need of child care facilities. I will therefore ensure that all the appointed assistants will be aware of how to secure such services for a family with my clients' specific and special needs.

I will also provide my clients with my personal contact numbers, where I can be reached during any time of the day or night in case anything goes wrong. The family can also give this number to any of the appointed assisting officials during their journey.
