Healthcare: Treating Hyperlipidemia
Discussion Post Using SOAP Format
S: Subjective Information
The subjective information of the 62-year-old White female shows that vital signs are suitable for an older woman at her age. However, due to the prevalence of hypertension and increased cholesterol, there are risks associated with the possibility of cardiovascular diseases. For this, she would have to be vigilant about her diet and exercise. She maintains her health by exercising for one and a half or two hours daily, which has helped her maintain appropriate body weight.
O: Objective Information
The eye color and integument are satisfactory for the woman. Bodyweight is 127 pounds for a given height of 64 inches, which seems satisfactory. The current blood pressure level is 112/60, which should be in the suggested BP bracket. The cardiovascular condition seems reasonable as well, still a threat being posed by cholesterol level, which is high at 302.
A: Assessment
The clinical impression inferred from the woman’s condition is that she is currently suffering from mild hypertension, although it has been under control with her medications. Suppose the cholesterol level, which suggests hyperlipidemia, remains under control. In that case, there is a lesser likelihood of any cardiovascular diseases, though combining these two mostly indicates the prevalence of heart diseases (Zhang et al., 2019).
P: Plan
The 62-year-old woman is already adhering to the pharmacologic intervention for the treatment of hypertension. For the treatment of high levels of cholesterol or hyperlipidemia, she has not taken any medication before. Hence, Atorvastatin (10mg) or Lovastatin (20mg) would be recommended (Feingold, 2021).
